I'll be stoked to sign Lewis but I am a tad confused as to what role he will fill? I don't exactly remember him playing much defence for footscray only forward and ruck.

I really think he’s only SSP so we have another forward target in the scratch match. Croft and Lewis certainly aren’t Naughton and Darcy but having them up forward can preserve the game plan.

I'm probably in the camp of backing Dolan in, but it can't hurt to have a look at a guy who played 14 games last year

They let him go a couple days ago to replace him with Derksen.

They added him prior to the SOO game but you'd think even if Weiterings injury is minor, the realisation may have hit that Young would be the only key pillar in defence should anything happen to weitering. Surely thats enough to give the SSP spot to Derksen.

I'm fine with Lewis being included as train-on and playing Thursday given no Darcy/Naughton/Lobb/English but I don't get the logic in us potentially signing him to our list. He'd be behind Darcy, Naughton and Croft, and is already 26 so he's only going to get opportunities if we have an injury crisis (and even then I think we'd try Buku/Lobb/JOD/Walker forward as back-ups).

If you looked at our list in pre-season, I'd still say key backs and small forwards were areas to focus on. Given the injuries we've suffered to the smalls and now losing Harmes as a mid/fwd option, surely if we were to take a punt on someone it would be for the clear area of need.

I do actually like Lewis but he's not what our list needs.

Will White is an interesting one, Carlton board had some pretty positive write ups on him and seem to be disappointed he won't be getting a spot. Showed some decent signs last year and played a fair few games considering he was a late addition. Noted he is a decent pressure forward with a bit of pace, smart around goals and has good disposal hitting up forwards rather than just bombing it in. Would be battling with McNeil / VDM especially while Cody and Dolan are out, so is a spot of need for us.

Hasn't been in the AFL environment too long so maybe a bit of potential still there as an AFL level small forward. Also some obvious ties to the Dogs from his article last year at Carlton,

Makes alot more list sense then Lewis. A fair bit smaller then VDM and McNeil from memory but plays similarly to McNeil. As depth I'm not against the inclusion but if people are expecting a walk up best 22 player i think they will be disappointed. As you say will be good whilst Dolan and Flea are out.

Think he’d be at pretty long odds to actually get signed but definitely understand them looking at White

Fills a more urgent need and he showed a little bit last year. Really lacked polish but at 21 who knows maybe that will improve. Always showed a bit of heart
