on a different note I am very much enjoying Smith and Daicos not winning the Brownlow... lets hope sniff sniff does not win on Sat either!

And Sniff looks p***** as well. 🤭

Thrilled for Rowell. Just a genuine person and a fantastic footballer. Humble and a class act.

Don't really need to see him play, you only need to look at him. He's a fat bastard.

Can’t say I like Bailey Smith but I could stomach having a couple of dickheads around if they’re talented enough to help us win a flag. And as much of a knob as he is, he turns up to training and keeps himself in shape to an obsessive degree. I get Geelongs approach - the social media stunts, the coke use, etc they don’t care about if he’s helping them contend for a flag, which he is.

Noting I also think he’s a massive ****wit for his interaction with the photographer recently.

It’s what makes me a bit apprehensive about punting Jamarra to another team when we’ve seen Dunkley and Smith, two elite players, move on to greener pastures. The two best teams in it recognised them as positive midfield contributors when we didn’t rate them as such. These are teams we’re (hopefully) aiming to topple, and we’ve made them much stronger while getting very little back. Those trades set us back and pushed them into contention. Which is also a whole other discussion about out of contract players requesting trades to dominant teams with no assets. Will sting a lot more if Jamarra pans out similarly.

Of course it has to be noted there is an enormous chasm between the habits of Dunkley, Smith and the guy who didn’t turn up to training all year.

But if we send Jamarra to a team that is already ahead of us or primed to overtake us, we kind of have to wear it as our choice to send a contracted player there. Just like we made choices around midfield priorities with Dunkley and Smith. Be interesting to see where he goes and what we’re willing to do just to get him off our list.

whilst I agree with this sentiment you have to look at it from other angles. One is sponsorship and the impact their antics can have on the club and the negativity it brings to major sponsors and the second is recruitment. Think about it, if you had a young 17/18 year old son, would you like him to be around Jamarra with his current attitude and look on life?

Hasn't hurt Geelong with Sniff one bit. Still getting players going there this year and a chance to take Butters off us as well

As much I hate losing Dunkley and Bailey they would be ecstatic with their decisions. Dunks was lucky he did not end up at the bombers. Now he is playing in his third Gf and already one flag with the lions. Bailey one of the Brownlow favourites more midfield time a chance for a flag. You expect both teams will be up there again in years to come.

Jealous as a dogs supporter you betcha.

A lot of this rests on how the media views the respective players.

Smith is portrayed as a maverick who has the odd lapse into poor behaviour, all of which are entirely forgivable.

JUH doesn't get this latitude.

The dogs have to look at the culture we have at the club. I am not saying it is bad but there is an element of attraction to go to Geelong, Brisbane etc. (That doesn't involve farms/cotton on). We also have to be bold and direct. We should go hard for Butters now. We have to be ambitious, just like Geelong were 20 odd years ago.

The wheel will turn though, Geelong are the media darlings because of being in the GF, but when they come up short this year or the next, an analysis will be more critical.

Smith, is out of control, just like Aker was for Brisbane, it was ok when they were winning, but the implosion happened when that changed.

Are you really saying that we didn't rate Dunkley as a midfield contributor? He played midfield for most of career with us. He won our best and fairest in 2021 playing midfield.

We rated both players highly and didn't want to lose either.

Geelong’s dynasty was founded far less on ambitious trading than on a great batch of FS players who they got with third round picks. That enabled them to also pick up Joel Selwood at pick 7 when today it would have to be used to get the FS picks.

That precipitated a slight toughening of the FS rules. (But when we got Wallis and Liberatore for about picks 20 and 41 they rightly had to tighten it further, hence the draft points system of the last decade).

A lot of that is the AFL’s doing.

Geelong get the big games at the MCG which is something we can’t compete with.

That’s a reason why a lot of players nominate the big Vic clubs over us.

There's also a massive difference in the way he's treated at Geelong compared to us.

At Geelong the club and their media enablers get the big broom out and sweep indiscretions under the carpet. At our club, the snorting for example is painted as a Bulldogs culture problem.

Never any issues with the 'they're so good' culture down the highway which of course enables abusing female photographers and having some sort of issue with a visually impaired person at a media conference. Both people just trying to do their jobs.

When he was running off early in the 2nd he was having a go at Baker who then grabbed his belly and told him similar
I like Baker even more now

They also have the on-field results to back it up.

Blame Geelong bias all you like but look at the number of top teams who have had controversies swept away.

Their fans also turn up. Where as ours and we have the numbers don't.

Thats a lie,

They averaged 30k at Pork Barrell park this year we averaged 35k at docklands

They play the big teams at the G where they are outnumbered and have bitched about it for years vs Hawthorn/Collingwood/Richmond
