If it’s going to be a rubbish draft pick coming our way for JUH we should be making them take on his salary. If he comes good and we have traded him for peanuts AND paid him a good salary to turn things around at another club I’ll be super annoyed.
Thats why it will be one or the other.

Gold coast have already done something similar with Geelong and we seem to have a good relationship with them

Question, how many years of paying 95% of the cap can you bank? And then when and how can you use it?
I.e. can you pay 95% for three years, and the. 105% for the next 3?

Nah only in a 2 year swing.

But the saints have instead frontloaded ALL contracts for the last 3 years so the rest of their players are on sweet **** all for the last few years of their contracts. They need to spend all this money or they don’t break the cap floor.

Unless its changed in recent years, when they brought it in you could spend any banked amount above the cap across the next 2 seasons (but never exceed 105% in a given year). The other advantage that a club like St Kilda would have is being able to front end a number of other contracts to bring their spend up to 95%, which in turn would free up cap space for new recruits, ie if their existing players are now on lower wages.

One thing that has impressed me with Sam Power has been how he treats this period like a game of chess and the opportunities this year for him are great.

Gold Coast have an earlish pick in pick 6 which will likely be lost to an Acadamy bid. Is it a shock that the JUH discussion is there. For pick 6 imstead of nothing they can get JUH. Not only that they can not have to pay him so they basically get a year for free to see if he is worth the risk and our pick 28 for points to use against a bid.

We now have pick 6 to go with our pick 10 and depending on our own F&S and NGA a first round pick in either 2026 or 2027 to have 3 first round picks on the table to trade this year.

But you see the media pundits, the same ones who talked down Sniff last year are telling us that JUH is worth only a fourth rounder maybe.

So you know we'll just have to accept that 🙄 Don't matter that he's actually contracted and rather than accept a crappy pick this year I would be happy for him to sit out his final year.

He was the best performing of our 3 talls and had kept Voss to no disposals in the first only 3 with the 1 goal in the 2nd and after he was subbed Voss kicked 2 and had 7 disposals Traecy had 11 and 2 on Lobb already whilst Amiss had 6 and 3 on JOD

So he was our leading intercept player as well as doing the best job defensively yet was playing so poor he had to be subbed?

Please provide me the proper stats then to show why he was so poor and the obvious choice to be subbed

This was whilst Buss was playing Voss/Amiss/Traecy all ended up with 3 goals
I disagree he was the best performing of our talls, because it was noticeable how his lack of speed and ability to defend space got exposed as they went on a run - he was ineffective in blocking space that forced their ball entry to be weaker. He was slow to react and when he did react he didn't have the legspeed. This allowed opponents to get free and have space in dangerous areas.

There's more to defensive work than just one on ones.

Answer me this: other than a simple "Bevo was wrong and he can't coach" answer, do you have an tactical or strategic explanation as to why Buss was subbed off, if he was playing so well? There has to be one.

The club know exactly where Buss sits currently. I can tell you he is not rated as a lock. His problem is he is a tall wanting to play half back distributor role. Well that role is left for guys who can run with pace when required. So can he improve to become a body on body, strength with speed defender. I hope so yet it’s an uphill battle.

So club knows where he sits and don’t rate him but re-contracted him last year for 2 more years even though other clubs were sniffing around and we could have got a decent return for him, especially from the eagles.

I’m significantly more confident of Buss making it than Croft.
