Gold coast would be hoping Lombard and Rogers can come on fast for 2026. Small forward/half forward was already a weakness but now lose Ainsworth and Rosas Jnr aswell as Budarick who played there this year.

The longer this goes on, our list management looks like a Kid who didn’t get his first choice of Presents on Christmas, So they Chuck a Hissy muttering. "I don't want any of it then".

Can someone actually name a defender they think we should have targeted? The only one I've seen mentioned is Tyler Young. What other KPDs are going to other clubs? Serong, Aleek??

We tried with Wilke, Silvagni, Butts and all said no. The market is very thin and we have had a crack at shaking one out.

Some are acting as we are sitting on our hands, clubs like North and Swans desperately need key backs as well and who are they getting in? Fact is there isn't a lot around this year.

I'm not comfortable with our KPD stocks next year but you can't be just getting anyone in just because. They have to be better then what we have.
I think it's more nuanced than that - if we get someone that releases JOD to play more of a roaming/third man up role or defence works better. I rate Buss but I still don't think he's ready.

I think we only need a 1-2 year proposition.

I liked Ballard from the Suns in the past and I think Frost for one year is worth it from a risk/reward scenario as he'd be virtually free.

I think Jai Serong can play but he's no KPD at AFL level so he's not an answer. I know we were linked to Blanck months ago but I haven't been impressed the few times I saw him at VFL level this year.

The other option would be Jake Riccardi who has played both ends (albeit more forward at AFL level). He's been a very good VFL defender in the past... better than Gardner and is right now an upgrade on Busslinger.

I get the not just going for any KPD if they aren't upgrades. We tried for JSOS and Wilkie but couldn't get there, i'm happy to back in Buss, JOD and Lobb, however we definitely need at least one more KPP at each end if we are losing Jones, JUH and Buku. Even if it's Derksen and Frost, we will need the depth for inevitable injuries, hoping we don't go in too short of KPPs next year.

if Elijah Hollands didnt have so many issues he would of been a great get reckon he is the type of player we need at HF
I'm very big on what Hynes will develop into.
More than most Bulldog fans I'm guessing. I like Dolan too. I'm less concerned about our forward line than I am our defence.

How so?

They offered 650k to a fairly unproven JSOS and 1.2+ to Wilkie
I didn't say this year. I said recent years.
In the last year or two everybody has finally woken up to the fact that we don't have the personnel we'd like in defence.

I have posted elsewhere that we did very little on the key defender front between drafting Naughton (2017) and Busslinger (2022). They were the years of missed opportunity, especially when we converted Naughton into a forward after a promising debut year in defence. We got in quite a few stop gaps and along the way we converted ageing forwards (Bruce and Lobb) but didn't draft any long term youngsters. O'Donnell fell into our lap by another path but even that was in 2022.

We are now paying the price.

Are you just getting this from the media jerks? (Who was it that was quoted - Edmund and Quornz?)

It was only this season that Sanders and club were reasserting their love for each other and Ryley was saying very positive stuff about staying.

I know things can change but it's not quite time to toss the toys out of the cot. Yet.
Loves Adz as well. Lives with him & Kimmy, I think.

Never shown any animosity that I've seen, other than being a bit grumpy with being subbed out one night.

Has talked about looking forward to playing his part in the next midfield wave, alongside Frij & Ed.

Funny how one or two comments from average germos can start a bushfire.

Alex Keath was a pretty good addition there
