Ruthless. That's fine. But if Coffield hangs on ahead of Poulter, that's nuts.

Unless we are down the line with a DFA key defender I think he'll stay. Injuries have stifled him and doesn’t seem to have any confidence in his body or ability. I'm not convinced he is able to turn it around but when push comes to shove I have more faith in him playing a role than Gards and we're only one injury or form slump into making that decision

JJ! Another BullGod taking his bow and a Step closer to that bittersweet day when seeing our 2016 Premiership heroes in our colours again requires a DVD player.

Poulter is Disappointing. He hasn't looked bad, but his frame has not changed since we picked him up, which is understandably a Fatal Flaw under Luke 'Gun show' Beveridge's regime.

After today's events. We're probably picking up 3 in the draft. Anyone ITK aware of our prospects?

Wild that Coffield wasn't first delisted to me. Arguments could be made to keep both JJ and Poulter, couldn't see any for Coff unfortunately I think he's just lost too much speed and reflexivity with his constant injuries. Was worth a punt but I'd be flabbergasted if the club kept him.

I always felt Poulters future hinged on the Khamis trade, once it fell through i had Poulters papers stamped.

Sorry if this has already been discussed - I don't have time to read every post.

Are we considering giving a lifeline to Steven May? Seems like a decent stopgap for 1-2 years

Iv’e heard on the grapevine we have offered his old man a Poons Cafe franchise to entice him across.

Coffield just isn't a kpd though. He is a midsize utility defender/barely a third tall at best competing with Cleary, Sellwood, Khamis, Jaques and Walker.

It's a shame, but I just don't see how his retention makes any sense.

poulter had potential on the wing at afl level. Usually played well when he stepped in just couldn’t get a consistent run at it l.

Was all over for him when they started playing him as a tall forward
He even got his hair cut 😞

This is getting ridiculous.

A kick-in is not a possession, but you can get a disposal.

May taking kick-ins does not add to his value of a player. You claiming it as evidence of "statistical superiority" is not only stupid but it gets away from the original point of how we value May as a player to be drafted. Given that Dale would continue to take kick-ins for us, we have and you are the one that wanted to compare players statistically, you have to assume May would not take kick-ins and then subsequently compare his stats to Lobb's or others.

May takes more marks because Melbourne play a less aggressive game style so are more likely to switch in defence.

It is not the tall players' job to get into space from kick-ins, so Dale usually targets a smaller player in space and not to kick to a contest where our key defenders are.

This is getting ridiculous.
Yes, yes it is . It is.

Barely a third tall is how I would describe him too

The question is who comes in if Buss is injured for round 1 next year? Cleary played tall early this year and I think he looked far more comfortable defending smaller players than playing tall. Khamis is much better forward, I think he looks vulnerable back but he is an option. The other three haven't made their debut but not sure Jacques or Sellwood are playing tall, Walker looked very impressive forward in the VFL finals and could end up staying there. List needs say he needs to stay back but it hasn't stopped us before. If the answer is Gardner then I'd prefer the answer to be Coffield

I don't think he should be on an AFL list either but the way things are shaping up I could see him playing double digit games for us

I think we are far more likely to see Williams play as the third tall in that case. JOD, Lobb and Gardner (Buss if needed) for 1 and 2.
Buss, Williams and Cleary (Khamis if needed) for number 3

My opinion on Coffield is I’m ok with keeping him on. Very talented but very unlucky. We don’t know what goes on behind the scenes and think we under appreciate how hard it is coming back from injuries mid season particularly when you have already been disrupted.
If he is cooked the club would know well before anyone on BF with all the high performance coaches etc professional AFL club.
I don’t think he has been too bad when played in seniors but Im obviously a minority well and truly here on that.

Potentially but I don't love Williams there either. Robbing Peter and not paying Paul

If we have a main list of 38 players and Cat A list of 4 players, we're full and can only bring in 2x Cat B rookies. The combined main list + Cat A can't exceed 42. Means no rookie draft/SSP/midseason picks (pending injuries/retirements).

However by my count, with your proposals we would have 37 main list + Cat A 4 rookies, leaving room to take on 1 new Cat A rookie (or use a 4th National draft pick/DFA). Main list = 33 - Coffield + Baker + JOD + 3 draftees = 37.
Yep, you’re right on both fronts. Learn something new everyday.

So effectively if Coffield is the last delisting it means we can only add one DFA, assuming we take 3 picks in the National Draft?

Any chance we pay out Gardner? Lovely guy but no point have a 30yo on the list who can’t play seniors. He is a genuine list clogger, taking vfl positions we can develop other in.
If we want a backup, get Frost.
