Why not?

Its out of him, johnstone and Green, thats if we want to get a decent player or Draft pick and I say him because

Johnstone has shown over the last 2 weeks how much we need his class and skill through out our midfield

Green is showing to me what a great leader he can be and has really pleased me recently with his hardness and commitment.

Which now leaves Bruce who to me at he's best is a very good player but also is a front runner and has no where near the skills of green and Johnstone and just seems to be 1 of those players we don't need at our club because he's not tough and very slow and he's foot skills are shocking

He may respond differently to a new coach. Give him another year before you stick the knife in...He is a fantastic player at full flight and has put the runs on the board for the club. Don't be so hasty in giving him the boot

I know that stats don't tell the full story but I still think we need someone like him who can consistantly get 25+ disposals. ATM we only have McDonald and perhaps Nathan Brown (including 24 turnovers) while other clubs can have 4-5 players with that ability. Sure, Jones and McLean will improve but they will still only be young next year as well.

If we got an amazing offer for him, sure we'd perhaps take it, but I wouldn't want to be just fishing him around as bait as it couldn't help his confidence.

Thow the game against Carlton and we have picks 2, 18, 20, 36, 52.
Trade pick 20 for Cameron Wood, Ryan Murphy, Jaymie Graham, Brad Moran, whoever you want and pick up four talented players, the top 2 of which should be of high quality.

Then delist Holland, Bizzel, Ward, Brown, Miller, Jamar and Godfrey. Keeping Yze, Neville, Ferguson, Chris Johnson and Pickett on their last chances. Promote Jace Bode and Shane Neaves, keep Hayes on the rookie list, say good bye to Hughes, draft three more rookies and back into the 8 we go, this time without players like Godfrey, Holland and Brown holding back the development of young players who will win us the flag.

It all just makes sense. :thumbsu:

And then hire a muppet as coach and draft shit players.

I think Melbourne would get something for Jamar as a trade. What currency Jamar has as a trade I don't know but I would try and trade him instead of delisting. Better to get something instead of nothing.
I like this thread. I don't agree with all the suggestions but the underlying premise that hard decisions need to be taken by new coach is 100% correct.
I think 6 to 8 delistings for this year is about right. Who? I'm not too sure but all the players on MasterBates list are on my shortlist of about 12 to 14 players who I think might be considered to be delisted.
I'll give away one name Warnock. He must be up for consideration to be delisted. Will he be? I don't know.

If the club could off-load Jamar that would mean all players picked up in the 2000 and 2001 drafts would be gone. Five of the eighteen, I think are enjoying careers at new clubs and the rest have not been up to it. Jamar's all we've got left. What a waste.

Thats one of the reasons for our lack of success this year IMO, we have good players from 99 (Green, Bruce, Wheatley, Whelan) in their prime, and form 2002 onwards we have Bell, Rivers, Brock, Sylvia etc. Can kind of count Moloney as he was exchanged for Thompson, but we really needed young KPP to stand up from those years, now we have to wait for Rivers, Dunn, Newton and Bate to do the job.

My post above isn't quite accurate. We still have Miller (ND 2001) and Godfrey (PSD 2000). The gist of the argument remains however.

There will be a huge change to the players list next year:

No there won't.

Finally, the following players I would delist or trade (if any vales) are:
1) Bizzell 2) Holland 3) Miller 4) Ward 5) Brown 6) Godfrey 7) Pickett
8) Carroll 9) Warnock 10) Hayes

Only one I can see that deserves to be delisted is Miller. Why you would want to delist Bizzell is beyond me as he was easily our best defender in most if not all of the games he played and should not be dropped. I just can't look at that list anymore, I know it's your opinion and that's fine but I just can't look at it.

Finally, what happen if Judd is available? The club's top picks might be gone.

Judd's not going anywhere, never was.

Pick 20 for the above players can be abit expensive. If the club ends up the above picks, perhaps:

A) Trade Brad Miller and Mark Jamar to the Bulldogs for their round 3 pick (number 33). Dogs need talls.
B) Give pick 33 to Brisbane for Cameron Wood. Ideal replacement for White.
C) Try to use pick 20 for Stacker from West Coast. Stacker can be handy KPP for the club.
D) Trade Nathan Carroll and pick 52 to the Dockers for Ryan Murphy and Dockers pick 54.

As the result:
Gain: Stacker, Wood, Murphy and pick 54
Lost: Pick 20, Pick 52, Carroll, Miller and Jamar

Draft picks 2, 18, 36, 54 and 68

This is just a comment.

Good comment but i'd prefer to keep Carroll as Murphy is more of a forward and is not a straight replacement for Carroll. Freo wouldn't be trading for Carroll as they already have 2 decent FB's in McPharlin and Grover.

I don't mean to be rude but learn how to quote.

A) The bulldogs need talls who can play, after drafting McDougal they wouldn't touch Miller or Jamar for free yet alone for pick 33.
B) Brisbane wouldn't accept 33 for Wood, he was pick 18 in the 2004 draft, I doubt they would even accept pick 20, but with Charman and Leunberger they might.
C)Staker is a handy player but isn't a big KPP, we have Newton, Robbo, Neitz and Bate in the forward half, I wouldn't waste pick 20 on Staker.
D)I have gone sour on Murphy, he is talented but so is our forward line (see above). Carroll might not be premiership material but he is the best we have whilst Frawley comes through, he can't be traded unless we get a young full back in return. Invest in tall defenders in the draft and Rivers, Frawley, Bell and a draftee can make a solid backline for many years.

Can't trade Carroll for Murphy as he is still our best FB option. Trade Carroll for Graham could be an option but I'd rather get Graham with a DP. I doubt Freo would want him back anyway.

Just wondering, i am a Cats fan, but had Bizzell in my Supercoach side this season, when he resumed near mid-year, he was always getting food numbers. Then, after the Kangaroos loss, he gets 'dropped' i think for that new talent in Ben Holland!! If Bizzell is uninjured, why would he have been dropped? And how could he not be playing now? It seems that the new coach has no plan for him in the future, which is disappointing, he has talent. maybe he could be tried in the forward line again, he played predominately there at Geelong.
