Trade/delist/keep

My view on our current list. All feedback is welcome.

Davis - KEEP. Liking him as a midfielder with pace and footskills.
Woey - OFFER FOR TRADE/KEEP AT REDUCED PAY. In our best 22 but not worth $400k. Might be able to be traded for someone handy.
Lonie - KEEP. Invested too much time in him, and the potential payoff is too high, to let him go now.
Didak - See Lonie.
Bucks - KEEP. No brainer. Probably to be his last year next year.
Holland - KEEP. The only midfielder other than Burns with a bit of mongrel in him. Integral.
Clement - KEEP. Our next captain.
Morrison - Unseen.
O'Bree - TRADE/DELIST. Useless, and has zero (positive) impact on the game even if he gets 25+ touches. Might be able to be traded to a Bulldogs/Richmond for someone useful.
McKee - KEEP/DELIST. Only as backup for Richards. Delist if we can get an experienced back up ruckman.
Cole- TRADE/KEEP. Incredibly overrated, but not bad enough to delist. Could secure a handy player, especially from Essendon.
Wakelin - KEEP. Our best tall defender, cornerstone with Clemo in our defence.
Nixon - KEEP. Hasn't shown much but probably worth one more year of perseverance. Hasn't been given much of a chance.
Davidson - KEEP. And hope to God his knees remain in good shape.
Burns - KEEP. See Buckley, although may play on an extra year.
Licuria - KEEP. On the way down, but still real useful in the midfield.
Williams - TRADE/DELIST. Hopefully his ok performance in the last game has given him some trade value. If not, get rid of the dud.
Tarrant - KEEP. Too good to get rid of, use him more as a HF next year.
Richards - KEEP. To assume #1 ruckman next year.
Shaw - KEEP. Play the bloke on the ground the entire Wiz Cup and watch his confidence skyrocket. Can play.
Rocca - KEEP. Play out of the goal square only.
Lockyer - OFFER FOR TRADE. Got too many of his types at the club, a flanker/part time midfielder who doesn't really do a lot. Worth keeping if a good enough trade can't be arranged.
Fraser - TRADE. Can't ruck, can't mark overhead well enough to be anything more than a third-string forward. Trade value will be at its highest now.
Johnson - KEEP. All Collingwood and offers us some grunt and pace out of the backline.
McGough - DELIST. No skills, no pace, no more.
Kinnear - DELIST. Pay his contract out and cut all ties with the dud.
Lokan - KEEP/TRADE. Purely for depth.
Mullins - KEEP. Looked OK and worth another season.
Shackleton - KEEP/DELIST. I'll admit I didn't see the game he played for us, nor his VFL form. If he looks OK at VFL level, keep him - if he's not near it, delist.
King - KEEP. Looks like he could be a handy small forward.
C.Cloke - KEEP. Looks good.
J.Cloke - KEEP. Not going to be CHB in a flag side any time soon, but handy.
Presti - TRADE. Injury probably came at the right time to shield him from scrutiny, as he appeared in a sharp decline until he was forced out. Been a good servant but doesn't appear as though he can cut it at this level any more. Trade value is maximised now.
Swan - KEEP. Like him a lot, looks a bit like Scotland and we all know that story.
B.Shaw - Unseen
Walker - KEEP. Showed something late in the year and will be important if Fraser and/or Presti go.
H.Shaw - Unseen
Hall - Unseen
Maxwell - KEEP. Looks the goods to take over from Presti next year.

Obviously if a Judd type was offered for a Holland type, then you'd do the trade. I'm talking more along the lines of realistic trades from other clubs.

St. Kilda need a ruckman, one of their midfielders would be nice. Fraser is still highly rated enough by some to get someone pretty handy for him. This will not last.

As for this running down the players crap - what? I'm offering my views on how this team can get back into the top 4. I'm not happy being 13th and I want changes in place that will get us back up there. NOne of this touchy feely "they're good blokes so we'll keep them" type stuff.

That won't win us flags.

i think we're all getting abit ahead of ourselves. Ok a few players do need their positions looked at, but that list is ridiculous.

Our list isnt that bad. We're not a 13th team. We had a very bad season, and i dont think there was any part of the season in which we had all our key players. I think with the current list and a decent injury run we'd be able to get back into the 8 next season.

But that said, I do also believe some changes do need to be made, as with any side in any year, regardless of where they finish.

The changes i think need to be made:

McKee, Williams, and Kinnear are must goes in my opinion. The more time they spend on the list is the more time that coulda been spent developing new blood, and not wasted on no hopers. I haev a feeling Mckee may be kept as a back up. Howver if williams and kinnear are still there i will not be happy.

Swan, McGough, O'Bree, Lokan should all be put up for trade. Swan lucky not to be on the delist category. McGough looks good at times, but too often is unseen, and i dont think this will change much. O'bree is the Clanger King. enough said. Lokan doesnt really look like he's going anywhere, however if we cant trade him 1 more season cant hurt before delist.

Players i've heard being suggested as trade bait, and i HIGHLY disagree with:
Lonie - we would be absolutely stupid to get rid of him. Pacey, tall, beautiful kick. Granted his games not perfect but he's still developing.
Davis - After persisting with him for years, we finally start to get something out of him, and people wanna trade him?
Tarrant - I think i will be close to tears if he is traded, unless we get a ridiculously good deal for him.
King - He's done alrite for his first year, give the kid a chance.

Pretty much what I was saying.

McGough - another Scooter situation, we will trade him for a 3rd round and he will be more than servicable in another team. Lokan will never be much but we got him for pick 72 and at least he adds some depth and he's cheap as chips. O'Bree, will get us something, lots of clubs need mid-fielders, maybe second round. Now it seems we can add R. Shaw, maybe to Richmond??

Five to six changes will be plenty. We wouldn't have been 13th if not for injuries, so no need to panic.

Two disagreements:
Fraser: Only if we get a great player in return/low draft picks.
Cole: NO! He is a creative player who is reliable in the backline. He is still young. If we traded him he would not be at his highest value and we would get screwed in the trade. Wait until he is tried up the ground and his creative play will see his value soar. He is 10x better than Johnno at the same age. Young small defenders who take the number 1 or even 2 small forward often get caught out. Trading Cole will be a big mistake. He is our best young player on the list.

I think McGough will be a good player at another club just like Scooter. Should get at least a 3rd round for him. A lot of clubs need midfielders so I think O'Bree is worth a second round. Lokan can play a lot of positions and has some speed, he adds depth and we pay him nothing and we'd get nothing for him, so I think he will stay to cover injuries

What about trading Shaw to Richmond for Rodan, seems they are talking about trading/delisting him?

I personally would keep Shaw given my reasons above. Rodan's a poor man's Leon Davis.
