Pick 6 for Prestia isn't overs? Disagree, even this year he was underwhelming.
Nope. Pick 6 for Prestia is bang on. He was a top 10 draft pick, and is comfortably between 6 and 10 of his draft year in terms of quality and I would have had no issue in doing a deal for him with pick 1 involved (obviously with probably pick 4 coming back).

Having three players all of similar value (high first rounder, low second rounder) all nominate a club simultaneously is unprecedented. Given the value of those three exceed our first, second and third picks combined we are going to have to either dip into next years picks or leverage the value of a player currently on our list.

Dogs will take our 2018 first considering it’s been touted as a super draft imo.
They'd accept pick 11 in this draft, of ****ing course they would accept our first rounder in a super draft next year.

I'd also accept pick 1 for Alex Morgan.

Tell that to Richmond. With the natural progression from our young kids and these additions we'd be odds on for top 4.
Well I don't know Richmond, so I can't do that. Getting Prestia and Caddy certainly helped and you'd rather have more talent than less but we won't be odds on for shit until we do what Richmond did, have proper team composition with complementary parts (this I think we did reasonably well this year) + a group that buys in to defending the ground which we do not do a lick of, I very much agree that the natural progression from the younger guys will help a ton, I'm very sold on the talent we currently have, but until that mentality changes you can add in whoever you want and we'll still be just a treadmill team that excites on our own terms.

Team building is a pretty tricky thing, I don't think there's any one method that works for all, if there was everyone would be doing the same thing. It could pay off, I would just rather be more conservative when it comes to giving away future assets until we've actually built something which I think is very viable without doing that.

I can’t see us getting all 3 without dipping into next years draft. we have no players of value to trade to get us the picks we need.

Just noticed Sam Collins from Freo was delisted. Wow.
He will get another go.
Looked good in 2016 and was really promising. When they drafted 3 KPD's last year I couldnt figure it out as he Pearce and Hamling looked like a great combo.

Collingwood, Hawthorn (he played at Box Hill) and Gold Coast will be all over him I imagine.

He didn't even have a better year than McGrath. Plus he has little upside which you'd generally find when trading top 10 pick.

Opinions on overs aside, getting those players is what propelled them, not moving on Deledio for a future pick. The parellel I was trying to draw is focusing on the immediate future should be the most important priorty.

I've just had a quick look to see what's happened this week - and unless I've missed something nothing has occurred - yet some are so emotionally invested. This thread reads like a real life soap-opera.

Do people seriously not have better things to do than anxiously wait over every little bit of gossip? We will find out what happens at the close of business Friday week and no amount of CTR+R will change anything. Until then, relax and get on with life.

Pick 11 + next year's 3rd FOR Stringer + next year's 2nd

Next year's 2nd + pick 47 FOR Smith + pick 64

Pick 28 + 64 FOR Saad

Done

This is still the best deal

What's this superdraft consist of anyway? Is it strong in inside mids? KPPs? Is it top heavy? Is the talent spread out? A superdraft to me is one where you can get quality players with late picks, which is what happenend in 2001 and 2013.

How many teams missed out on the 2001 and 2013 superdrafts despite having a top 10 (sometimes multiple top 10) picks?

A former pick 5 that is proven at AFL level > a likely pick in the teens

Dodoro has to get this done. If we have three guys nominate us and only get 1 or 2 of them then players will not nominate us in the future as they wont have confidence that deals will get done.

Suck it up Dodoro, make it happen and stop clinging to draft picks. Look at what each of Hawthorn, Sydney and Geelong did from 2007-now. They get their man, and if they have to pay slight overs so be it.
