Trade or Draft?

We just have to wait and see over the next 2-3 off seasons.

What really is pissing me off is that the media thinks GWS have recruited better then us. Sure they have more mature bodied players but so what! There is no way that I will agree with anyone who says GWS have had a better season then us or have a better future. We pushed Essendon when they were in their best form and almost knocked em off, we were down to Fremantle by 1 point with 5 seconds left. We beat Richmond when their season was on the line.

There has been way more positive signs from us then GWS. Sure they beat us but when you are a second year team in the AFL full of young blokes and you play against a team younger then you, then you will most likley get ahead of yourself which is what we did. The more we mature the more we will be prepared to win the games that we are expected to win.

If we get rid off Brennen and Krakouer, then we should go after Goddard and Cloke. We need to trade rather then make draft our number 1 priority. If we get those two players then we can aim for a top 10 finish maybe even 8th. The young players will have another season under their bealts and start to settle in the AFL after 2 seasons and we can expect to see more consistent performances.

Definitely agree with you there. The only aspect of their list which is ahead of ours at the moment is their key forwards in Patton to an extent and Cameron. Have shown far more than our young KPFs up to now.

I don't think Patton will reach the level everyone expects him to tbh. I think Dixon will be a gun and better than Patton.

I am a huge fan of Dixon.

I tend to agree, Patton dominated against kids because of his size and looked a standout. See how he develops.

Dixon is a competetive beast and love the way he goes about his footy and the contest.

Also with Patten, he has had pretty severe injury problems through out under 18ns and most of this season. Not the best start to a career. He could be the next Kozi, who was always injured in his first 5-6 seasons.

Hopefully for his sake, he is fine.

Was not basing what I said on potential, was more on performances to date. Cameron for me is a far more consistent performer than Day and Lynch. Not sure about Dixon as he plays a few postions.

While I could be grossly wrong to some thats just me, will happily stand corrected if anyone would like to elaborate.

Dixon appears to have the ability to be thrown anywhere on the ground along the spine, ruck, ff, chb, fb which is great. While Lynch has been thrown around at times also in defence, and forward I think I've seen him in the ruck also on occasion.

I'm confused with Day's development in that he has such great athletic ability (beat Natanui in the vertical jump at draftcamp), but is STRICTLY a forward and not thrown around in different positions as the other 2 talls have. I hope he comes on a bit more next year though for the club and his own development

At the risk of saying somethng said a million times before and sounding like a stuck record, time is the only thing which will ascertain whether Day will become a great KPF or a spud. I think he may take a bit longer than the other boys (KPPs).

It's important to remember that Day didn't get much of a pre-season, since he had to come back from his injury. If he manages to get his foot fixed up in time, this year will be the first full pre-season he's done. It should add a lot to his engine and size.

Like I said in his thread, his numbers are always steadily increasing and look about right for the amount of games he's played. He has played a bit in the ruck which I think is good, but he'll be more of a FF type longterm.

In terms of potential, all 3 are guns but id go Day/Lynch/Dixon.

Order may not go that way in what theyve shown to date but most would agree here. Dixon is a competive beast but lacks the pure talent/athleticsm of the other 2.

Couldn't disagree more. Talent means absolutely nothing if you don know how to use it. For mine it's:
Dixon
Lynch

Daylight

Day.

But let's hope we can never decide who is better and they all kick ten each in a Premiership winning side.

No offence but you are misguided with all your opinions I've read.

what do you think of that trade?

If it's true, I'd be very happy with that. I would take #37 for Toy on his own. Getting an experienced (if flaky) defender is an added bonus. He was in ripper form earlier this year, but now struggling to make the team. Not sure what the deal is. Not sure if he's playing out of position these days or what, but as a CHB earlier this year, he was good I thought. Maybe a victim of the Weapon?
