Hey guys before you shoot me down think about this trade scenario which could benefit both clubs.

We need a quick outside midfielder, you guys need a KPP.

How about one of either Tim Boyle OR Beau Dowler for Tambling PlUS a third round pick.

What would you say?

Ridiculous. Richmond topping off with a 3rd rounder is just insulting.

Besides Tambling is inside, not outside.

So who's giving away the third round pick? I would've thought that Tambling would have greater worth than either of those two considering he is actually playing regular footy, so if we had to give away Tambling AND a third rounder for one of them, I would be very pissed. Plus I rate Tambling so I'd rather we didn't even do a straight swap.

Edit: Ah k. I'd still say no, but only just. A third rounder is just so unpredictable...there's a fair chance that he would never get near playing a game for the club, but a lot of third rounders turn out to be great players.

Sorry that was a typo.. we would offer you OUR third round pick along with either Boyle or Dowler
Still a bad trade for Richmond. Dowler hasn't shown enough at VFL level IMO and Boyle is never going to help our team long-term.

Our outside midfielders include: McMahon, Collins, Edwards, Oakley-Nicholls, Tivendale, Hyde, White.

Now from that group we can ignore Tivendale and Hyde because they are hacks.

We won't trade McMahon, Collins or Edwards, but White may be your man. What do you want for him?

I don't think those Hawthorn players have shown enough to be worth it.

It would be *very* amusing to have Tambling at Hawthorn though..Watching the Hawks fans here backtrack on all their comments :)

God it is almost worth doing just to hear that! :D

Not a very balanced deal, Dowler has yet to prove he's even a good VFL player, Hughes performance at both VFL and more recently at AFL would have him light years ahead. Boyle is an ok player however we are grooming the like of riewoldt and Morton to be that 2 and 3 rd option and both I believe have more upside than Boyle.

Tambling could be a trade option for us, the coaches will need to determine how many of our young group have already caught RT and how many are expected to...and there are a number in that category. But no your option would be of zip interest, a fairer swap would be Meyer for Dowler

No chance, Tambling is getting a regular game and his stats are improving every year since he was drafted.
Dowler can't even prove himself at VFL level and we don't need Boyle
Would have to be Dowler & first round pick at the bare minimum seeing as it will effectively be a 2nd round pick given how late in the round it will be

isnt this the guy that has a second knee reco now?
P.S i would be forgetting about trading with teams who are contenders, when you are looking to get into the mix, you do deals with the likes of the eagles, dees etc. They will want to offload semi senior players to make way for their rebuild, we are at that point where we are ready to add "experience" to the mix. ;)

No Dowler has not has two reco's that was Beau Muston and now Max Bailey as well unfortunately.

Beau Dolwer for Meyer =no deal. Dowler was a top ten pick #6 whilst Meyer was around 12?

Tambling for Thorp =no deal as well we are potentially groming him as a key defender which we really need as well as a pacy outside mid.

Dowler came to us with a fractured hip (had a car accident just before the draft) Highly rated but doesn't get the right delivery at Box Hill who are struggling at the bottom. Our Forward line is now pretty set so one of dowler or Boyle may be shopped around at seasons end.

Personally I'd rather keep Dowler who has far more upside

Tambling needs to stay on our list.

He is a top line pick with the skills, composure, and capability to become an absolute superstar

He's getting plenty of game time, which is helping progress his experience and contribution to the team.

Well done to TW and the selection committee for sticking with Tambling, and ensuring that he becomes a valued contributor for the Tigers :thumbsu:

ok dude, time to play chasey, who were the professionals that forgot to tell the players to pack another set of boots against the Swans? ;)

as if thats a relevant argument 3 years later, it's what they've done since that is the catalyst for debate, for both the answer is clearly $%#@ all. Dowler is no more advanced nor on his pittful performances so far warrant any higher upside than Meyer, In fact I could argue that Meyer has played far less footy so much less is known about him. In any case you cant fool me , I know Hawk supporters that readily admit he %@#@house

This topic is about trade suggestions, so I'll keep my answer brief.

The players are professional athletes who should have been prepared with the appropiate footwear. Do you expect the trainers to ensure they are wearing clean underwear, or have their nails trimmed?

Well done to TW and the football department for giving the guidance to the players about who to best conduct themselves on the field, whilist ensuring each player has appropiate accountability for their own actions :thumbsu:

I wouldn't trade Meyer for Dowler, let alone Tambling.

Meyer has been injured for the past 18+ months, Drownler is a proven dud.

I expect the coaches who are there to "guide" the kids and develop them in the professional world, to demand that they should pack 2 pairs of boots.
Because all of them ahve been there and done that, but all of them are sleeping on the ____ing job and getting paid for it.
Since the professional athletes that form our leadership group had the professionalism to "show the way", NOT, then the buck stops with the coaching panel. Not the trainers. You reference to clean underwear and nails is a complete pile of shit. ;)

Tambling for Thorp perhaps?
Thorp has ongoing hip concerns similar to Meyer, so does Dowler but his was a fracture which should heal, when it's a joint issue like Thorps/Meyer's then its fairly concerning.
I'd say it's a shame as Thorp looks to be a gun, except now he's a Hawk I couldn't care less
