It will remain locked and be updated by moderators, either from posts in the old thread or if we are sent PMs by posters.

So far trade rumours are

  • Scott Lycett to Port as a free agent

  • Polec to North

  • Wingard on the table for a godfather offer or to reaffirm contract value for a new deal with Port

  • Jonas possibly being tempted by a move to Sydney

  • Port possibly making a play for Dylan Shiel

  • Kane Cornes thinks Port should pursue Aaron Hall but he is linked to moves to Victoria

Latest from Herald Sun of interest to Port supporters

Melbourne clubs certain Dylan Shiel wants to go to Victoria.

Steven May to Collingwood

Port have told Wingard to assess his options and then discuss with Port Adelaide what we are prepared to offer or what a trade would look like. Port not prepared to pay overs for a player who may have only one best and fairest top 10 finish in the past 3 years (including this year).

Little interest in Jasper Pittard

Blues rate Mitch McGovern pick 15-20, Adelaide rate him 10-15. Claim he is on $650,000 a year at Adelaide and feels underpaid. Likely to go for mid-teens pick. No talk of early pick on table.

Dahlhaus, Gary Rohan to Geelong

Aaron Hall to North

Lycett to Port

This would be pleasing. Quick and skillful forward who can kick a goal - exactly what we need.

Good friends with Charlie Dixon and in need of a fresh start. Contracted for one more year, GC need to free up space.

Picks 9 and 10 to Fremantle in exchange for picks 4 and 22 for Port - some work to be done but this is the broad outline. Points are about right.

Port draft Rankine, Freo trade for Hogan.

Rucci has been reading BigFooty again (and probably Fox Sports) ;) He's nominating Rozee because he thinks Rankine will be gone and he's a contrarian.

Port Adelaide now appears better placed to rise to the top of the draft order than Adelaide in the wake of a five-club cartel — Power, Fremantle, Brisbane, Melbourne and North Melbourne — forming to move Lachie Neale, Jesse Hogan, Rory Lobb and Jared Polec.
Port Adelaide could finish up with a top-five draft pick — and eye North Adelaide draft prospect Connor Rozee, a stand-out midfielder in the recent SANFL finals series. This would ease the dent of losing the speed and run of Polec to North Melbourne in a “godfather” deal the Power could never — and should never — match.

Fair enough. Although unless C4 is Jared Polec, 'he was never staying' is just his opinion, even if the rest of that post is true. Generally a player who was never staying comes out with the old 'we've put off contract negotiations until the end of the year', whereas from the sounds of things Polec did actually give us an asking price.

Just to clarify - I posted at the time that it was the collective thinking within the club that Jared had no intention of staying.

I can't find the original post - but it's referenced in Malibu#27's response shortly after.

This is all in retrospect now when looking at the chain of events that took place during the 'dialogue process' between the club and TLA. The penny only dropped when the media leaked the Victorian offers to the club (there was more than one), because at the time - Jared's camp were not transparent with what else they had going on in the background (which I suppose is their prerogative).

To summarise; the club went into the negotiations confidently - put forward a price that they felt was fair and reasonable (above market value FWIW), however were negotiating with a camp who privately knew they had a much better offer on the table elsewhere (that they knew the club would never match), and were just going through the motions for the most part.

Essendon are considering offering up pick 8 and an exchange of late draft picks (in there favour) to get SPP to them. Not sure how I would feel if something like that got done

According to media reports:

Jake Neade has attracted interest from Collingwood and North Melbourne.

Karl Amon has attracted interest from St Kilda and Hawthorn.

Jack Hombsch on the Gold Coast Suns' radar.

Jasper Pittard wants to stay put despite the Club shopping him around.

North want both Port's third round picks with Polec for pick 10.
