Is it too early to talk about trading playes from other clubs, I am sure that if Ryder had failed against the in form Fraser then we would all be talking about trading for a more experienced ruckmen.
I wouldnt mind getting a hardened body in the line up as most of the past premiership and top teams have had 5 ruckmen on the list.
Look at Hawthorn (2008)
- Simon Taylor in the seniors
- Robert Campbell in the seniors
- Brent Renouf able to play seniors but in reserves helping out the kids
- Max Bailey developing in the reserves, when not injured
- Luke Lowden also developing in the reserves beside Bailey and Renouf.
Geelong in 2007 similar position:
- Steven King in the seniors
- Brad Ottens in the seniors
- Mark Blake in the reserves
- Trent West in the reserves
- Shane Mumford in the reserves.
all have had good ruck divisions, and this is one area that I think we need to improve on, obviously the injuries to both Hille and Laycock have hurt us a little bit, but we should still have one ruckmen ready to play AFL and another two developing in the reserves.
Obviously this is getting into trade talk, would anyone look at these posibiliteis.
Brad Moran, 200cm, 99kg, 22y.o, 10 games
Is able to play at either end of the ground and is very good in the air, may need to improve his ruckwork, but a spot on our list would not be lost with his inclusion, am not sure on his contract status, but IMO he would be a very good inclusion onto the EFC list.
Shane Mumford, 200cm, 102kg, 22y.o, 3 games
Am not entirely sure where he is at in terms of his develo[ment but some games this year seem to show that he is improving each game and has shown at times that he is a more than capable ruckmen and a very good link man.
Todd Goldstein, 201cm, 105kg, 20 y.o, 3 games
Kangaroos big man who showed plenty in his few games he played last year, great tap work, but a bigger engine for this rapidly improving big man may be the difference between a good big man, and a great big man.
Daniel Currie, 200cm, 97kg, 20 y.o, 0 games
A really good pre season from the swannies big man, showed plenty in the pre season and was a battle betwen him and Jesse White, White has now grabbed his chance and is playing good footy, the inclusion of Candian Mike Pyke also put Currie back a peg in the ruck division too IMO.
am just putting the question out there, and the possibilities too. any feedback would be great. thanks.
