How about Richard Cole? Maybe he'd be good in our midfield.

God no.

Cole isn't fit enough to play in the midfield, let alone doing it on the hard tracks in WA.

Too many short people

We should be trying to get Joel Corey from Geelong.

He's only 21, is big (190cm, 89kgs), gets a lot of the ball, is an in and under type and is hard at it.

Would probably cost us a lot given how good his record is, but he would compliment Hase and Belly so well.

Forget Corey, he's contracted, happy where is & not going anywhere...why would u, considering the list Geelong has.

I reckon Chance Bateman is a player, that may move back west. He has very good skills, long booming kick, hard player that doesn't mind a bit of biff. Exactly what Freo needs.

1. The name
2. The hair

Other than that, you're probably right.

What would we have to give to get Chance?

Walker?
1st round pick?
Woods?
Grover?

I think he would end up being as valuable as Josh Carr would be....

Just been told on another thread that Chance has signed for 2 years at Hawks, so we can pretty much rule that one out.

Thinking of other possibilites....if we're going to trade Simmonds, what about Simmonds to Sydney for Saddington? Still only 25, plenty of experience, would be great on a wing of half back flank & can pinch hit up forward.

I would guess that if Simmonds goes it will not be for a straight swap. It will probably end up a 3-way deal which gets Josh Carr to Freo (if he wants to come as he still hasn't confirmed this!).

I think we'll probably all end up shocked at trade time as there will no doubt be a couple of guys traded, but I bet it's not who we expect it to be.

Simon Black for instance :D

Still reckon a Polak for Kerr is a fair trade both sides - helps both sides deficiences.

Remember CC on his last year and yuppie has said they have high expectations, so expect the unexpected and some big names ge thrown around.

Cant believe the number of people throwing around the Polak for Kerr trade on this board, Eagles spies perhaps? ;)

I can see Simmonds going for a midfielder, I can see our first round pick going for a midfielder, I'll be flabbergasted if Polak goes for anyone, let alone a midfielder.

Would take the Polak for Kerr trade in a second. Kerr is quality & toughness. Polak is courage, great marking & woeful kicking. Was picked up 1 draft choice after a Brownlow medallist (Judd), & hasn't improved in that time.

Fair enough, talls need longer to develop, but Kerr would be too good to refuse. It will never happen anyway... :)

And the reason it would never happen is cause we'd be getting completely ripped off :)

If I could be bothered I'd search for and bring up this same discussion from a couple of months back from here and dockerland where every man and his dog laughed at the prospect of eagles fans mentioning a Kerr for Polak trade (or am I imagining things, anyone who has more endevour than me can feel free to prove this statement wrong). I can't see what's changed in that short time to be honest.

Polak ain't going anywhere. He'll be our permanent CHB next year. McPharlin to push forward to either CHF or FF.

Pavlich to either play permanent CHF or FF with McPharlin.
