Can someone please explain to me what Hawthorn are doing and how they intend to fill their list?

They've delisted 8, brought in 3.

They have 2 draft picks (88 & 90) and the rest will have to be filled by DFAs? Rookies?

Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Are there any other means by which they can add to the list?

Can they not just keep selecting players at the end of the draft? I know Geelong took a few late last year but the draft only went to about 70 players.

They can add delisted free agents. They also went into last year with one less on their list (pretty sure) and can go 2 short if they want.

IMO Masten is a better user of the football... Rosa loved a lollipop kick that always gave opponents the chance to get involved in the contest. At least Masten can deliver a ball well inside 50.
That was the one thing about Rosa's game that used to frustrate me - if there was a prize for lollipop kicks Rosa would win it hands down;)!!

Sorry but I beg to differ, I just remember that kick that got gaff pole axed by the port Adelaide guy and he has done continually I just can't see any positives for the guy I would have traded him 3 years ago

Very harsh. I'm not a fan, but Gaff getting pole axed by that f***wit had nothing to do with his kick. Infact, you could say it was the perfect kick because it was weighted so the defender was never going to get there in time. The prick just took the lazy, frustrated, late and dirty option to put Gaff under.

I didn't realise this. I was reading an article that said they only had 88 and 90.

Scraping the bottom though aren't they?

Yeah some articles have been ignoring the later picks. I think we have 6 picks but wont be able to use them all. Hawks are taking a big gamble on their future basically giving up on the whole draft.

I liked what we did last year with the demotions from main list and promise top pick up as rookie. Hoping to see some action with the list lodgements due next week. McInnes to the rookie list for starters. We may even ask Butler to go to rookie list with a promise to upgrade him with the NN injury. That would mean we have 2 more spots to fill on the main list and get ahead of the rookie selections.

I don't agree with this, not the right way to treat long term servants.

McInnes I agree with, though I would prefer we just cut our losses completely at this stage.

No doubt they will take a few dfas on 1 year contracts so they will have plenty of cap space to land a big fish next year

Old news but West reports that Mitch Brown delisted back in Melbourne hoping to be picked up as a delisted free agent when the DFA trade period opens on Tuesday .
Tom Lamb agrees to a new one year deal at the Eagles .

ps Watch out for Petrie in Tuesdays DFA trade period ........ ......this is when we will take him if we do !

I don't think we'll take Petrie until after the draft - so we can take him in the final DFA window after the national draft (but before the rookie and pre-season drafts) or wait until the rookie draft and take him with our list pick there or in the PSD.

If he joins West Coast he will be the last player we add to our squad for 2017 imo

Exactly, if we were going to add him now, we might as well have just taken him in the 3rd free agency period.

OR.... or or or, crazy idea here... we dont take him at all?

That too.

If we draft any one of Cameron, Goddard or Goodwin...... then.

Petrie wont be an Eagle next season.

Correct

Which is why we'll leave it until the other drafts have run their course to see who we've been able to draft with Petrie a last resort option if we miss out on our other preferred targets

Either way on Petrie it will be a great euphoric celebration or a complete bigfooty meltdown.

I thought Tuesday was the day , .......just have to wait a little longer !!

If Simmo and co are still going to get Petrie ahead of the other ruck forwards mentioned above he must be coming for next to nothing or perhaps he's a. Really good boot studder

Rewatching the under 18s all star game Powell-pepper would be a steal at 12 if not right away in a year or 2
on one hand i want SPP for contested work and X factor but on the other hand im turned off by his kicking and the question mark lingering of him becoming a full time mid.
