The few games he got sat on it was shown how easy it was to quell his influence. I guess if anything it means if a team has to do that itll free up someone else.

Be curious as to how he finished the season in the voting. From watching games his impact appeared to drop off

He is ageless, could play for another 3 years no dramas. At 34 he is at the top of his game, your midfield will be ruddy elite.

If he has 3 years left while at the top of his game why would he leave for a coaching role (that's 3 years away apparently...), and why would the Hawks push him out? He's cooked and Clarko knows it. On the downward slide as they say and anyone could see it in his final few games for the Hawks.

Not saying he's a spud as I wish he nominated the Lions instead (would be amazing for our young side to learn off) but blind freddy could see he is on the down.

The only negative I get from this is the fact he could've been a FA had he not signed on for another season.

Discussions 12 months ago were regarding coaching only. Appears it was Clarko who pushed the playing part...

In any event, I think this is good news and just hope the travel and harder ground allow him to play the season out...

Teams finally figured out after 3 flags if you sit on him you beat the Hawks (ourselves included). Shueys gonna love having him around.

I like it though, Mitchell is a superstar and even just a year of his presence would be amazing for our young midfielders. I think he has at least 2 years in him left, we would probably need to look after his body though.. give him a couple of games off during the season get him ready for the finals!

Hopefully we can just do it with a swap of picks as opposed to losing a pick.

Even if we just pay our 3rd rounder, it means we are likely forced to use our 2nd rounder on Waterman, which means we are only bringing in one highly rated midfielder (excluding Mitchell).

I have a lot of time for Mitch.. good deal for us if done for a reasonable pick. Still playing very well and is a class player.

He won't play on the long trip against cellar dwellers I'd expect.
