My Money is swapping Sam Mitchell for Mich Brown as Brown's wife Shae is playing for Collingwood Netball Club next year and a third round pick will sweeten the deal.

BANG

Seriously?

Why?
Strong draft, missing out on potentially adding a 10 year player to our list.

OR add a 34 year old for one season so he can join the boys club on the coaching panel.

Frankly i'm surprised people are so erect by the idea.

What percentage of picks in the 50s become 10-year players? Even in strong drafts?

Hawks could sign Brown for free if they want him.

So we could potentially have two Brownlow medalists on the list in 2017. Don't like the idea of paying a lot though at 35 next year.

I'd be ok with it, but if we trade our second best pick in a good draft for a player who we get a year out of I'll be pissed.
I'd be displeased with 2nd rounder as well.

3rd, not so much.

We aren't giving up our first rounder are we? if its a second rounder, I'm all for it. The influence he could have around the club would be great, it could go a long way in fixing our biggest weakness. The midfield.

Priddis
Shuey
Hutchings
Mitchell
Sheed

You think that stacks up well against Sydney's, Bulldogs or GWS' midfields?
Being a realist but OK...going to win the premiership next year

Hutch wouldn't have a spot with Mitchell playing.

I also think Redden has a lot to offer - just needs some run in his leg. Ruining an entire pre-season with groin/abdominal injuries is going to stuff up your year

I would pay 2nd round, 2 years of Mitchell would be awesome to watch in COAST colours .. And that's the real reason we watch footy..also Nic Nat small chance back for finals as a wildcard, we need to roll the dice for Kennedy and Priddis sake

The odds of getting a 10 year player from pick 50 is quite low.

I mean, there would be a reason that all clubs have passed on that player 49 times before he was selected...

Giving Hawthorn a third rounder for their B+F winner is a f***ing steal no matter how you dice it. 34 years old means nothing when he never relied on his speed and agility to win games for them.

Again, I'm erect at not 2017 but beyond. This bloke knows football. His experience and mongrel will add volumes to the WCE organisation.

And boys club? Ok.

Every time I see someone suggest we trade the FREE AGENT Mitch Brown, I surprise myself on how long I can sigh.

On another note you can really easily see the spanners on this board when they are opposed to having Sam Mitchell with us next season, the man is a star.

Well, well, well...don't check in for half a day and the thread blows up :D

I certainly don't want to pay overs for Mitchell but there is some serious upside to him coming over to run around and coach. Even just having one bloke standing in the right spot at stoppages will be a massive plus compared to this years stoppage work.

I think it's also a pretty good slapdown from Simpson to the LeCras' and Mastens of the club in regards to their capacity to help lead the young mids Simpson has drafted in. The Gaff's and Shueys are of the age where they just need to play balls out and focus on extracting their own best performance - leadership in Shuedawgs case is just a pleasant side effect. The senior guys should be doing the extra to help bring the youngsters on and hopefully Sam can do an excellent mentoring role on and off the field.

I think the deal will get done. They usually do when they have been discussed thoroughly in the public domain like this. I suggest Vosso knows exactly what we are giving up for Mitchell already.
