I disagree, I think this will be great for Priddis. Not only will he get help around clearances he will dish it to someone who will make the right decision 110% of the time every time. Mitchell is also smart enough to know the Priddis shouldn't kick so he'll get so many hand ball receives off Priddis' marks and free kicks.

What bit are you disagreeing with I said I though it would likely help Priddis having Mitchell in the team, pretty much for the reasons you mention and more. I said the only person who I can see having reservations about the trade might be Priddis, purely because it does put his position most at threat you'd think especially if Redden comes on. But this could also be a good thing because Priddis is a person who really needs to focus and work hard at being at the top of his game, when he's off it doesn't take him to be off by much to have drastically less impact but when he's at his best he's great.

The other player I think could really do well out of Mitchell playing the midfield quarterback position is Jetta, so many times this year his games could of been a lot better if his temmates had the vision and skill to find him in space as he often could be seen running to give an option. I'd tip Mitchell to be looking to find him as a first option more times than not given the pace and disposal Jetta has when he is in space.

You do recall Priddis went straight in for back surgery at the end of the year right?

Between his quad starting to play up and the back injury I feel the end might come quickly for Priddis. All those minutes at the coal face have to take a toll.

Sam to teach/mentor:
  • Nelson on how to get the most out of being dual sided
  • Sheed on how to be that inside-out mid
  • Duggan on how to extract and use his football IQ to move through traffic (aka AFL quarterback)
  • Partington on how to be a midfielder
  • the whole team in 2017 on how to be effective when playing to a losing ruck
  • Wellers on how to concentrate for a full 4 quarters
  • Yeo on being accountable and going to the next level
  • all the midfielders on what elite disposal means
  • all the youngsters on how to be an elite AFL player
  • all the growing left footers on how to make the most of playing to that advantage
  • an on-field assistant coach who knows about more than rucking (sorry Cox but you are short on experience in coaching midfielders)
I reckon Shuey, Priddis and Gaff will be happy that they have another A grade midfielder

The more I think about it the more I like it
and lamb to piss his career down te drain.

I think he needs to teach a few players to be versatile.

when is it expected to get the deal done?

Id say once the deal for Hill goes through they will have some extra picks to play with to get Omera...But now they have given up their first rounder for Tom M i am not sure how they are going to please GC.

maybe next years first or even a good player.

He burns his opposition off all the time.
Only through sheer endurance. His acceleration off the mark is not quick at all.

He just maintains a very healthy top speed for the entire match, which is great.

But if he was truly quick he'd be able to burn off opponents from stoppages, which I rarely see him do.

Anyway not really the right thread for it

Stole the thoughts out of my brain here.

Why would Clarkson be asking Mitchell to go if he can offer the club as much as people expect around here.

Can't he coach at the Hawks they keep losing assistants to other clubs, wouldn't Mitchell walk into a coaching role at Family Club?

This stinks of a stitch up or should I call it a titch up....

Inb4 Priddis wins another Brownlow.

Reckon Mitchell will be good for all our young mids, but will be excellent for partington in particular.

Actually straight swap for masten might interest hawks. With Hill going and a chance of smith leaving, masto could fill an outside need for hawthorn. Hill probably has masto for pace, but masto is better kick going forward and the type of player that doesn't go missing as much (consistently gets 20 or more touches a game). Type of player that clarko could worke with and bring out the best out of.

Surprised at the negativity for Mitchell, I understand he is old, but he is getting 30+ touches a game, along witih Shuey and Gaff, we are winning more games of footy and can contend. Whats the issue?

I think it's pretty much universal applause except for a couple of posters. Certainly the vast majority is approving of this move from what I have read in this thread.
