They have said they want a Forward-Ruck rather than a pure ruck as back up on the list.

I would suggest they are looking to play Lycett as a pure ruck role next year, with Vardy as his #2, where required.

Giles they consider more of a pure ruckman who would cover for Lycett if required.

That's how I took it anyway.
This is interesting. Didn't Giles win the goal kicker award for EP as a ruckman?

Averaging like a goal a game or something. Probably because Lamb kept getting double-teamed more than anything else

Triple teamed actually

His opponent and two shadows

GC Chairman Tony Cochrane really sticking the boot into Hawks. Nice to see a Pres/Chairman other than Eddie handing out a few smackdowns, and God forbid to a successful Melbourne team too. Whatever the outcome on the JOM trade, he's certainly come out of this looking like a bloke you don't want to be f***** around with.

Good for GC.

No he won't

Offtopic, why is there an apostrophe in won't?
Contraction of will not, first recorded mid-15c. as wynnot, later wonnot (1580s) before the modern form emerged 1660s.

Jimmy Bartel has officially retired

Great player but his time was done

From trade radio it sounds like Lids to Geelong has gone cold and he maybe going to the Giants

Tuohy to Geelong maybe for next years first rounder

A move to free up the cap space required for Lids? Not sure how they go about appeasing the Tiges in terms of a trade though, with no first rounder.

As others have said though, it's weird that it's the chairman doing this, and not their recruitment people/coach.

Why? It's the board who would have to sign off on the trade I would have thought. Recruitment reports to CEO who reports to board.

Besides he is flying his own flag. Nothing weird in what he is doing except trying to ensure his team doesn't get pillaged now and future. With amount of picks they have, they can probably just lose him for nothing if pick 10 is all that's offered.

Hawthorn should have had its house in order before pitching omeara. U can't go in with half of what's required, not give up any players and expect other side to just sit there and take it.

In the case of the recruiters - it lets everyone save face. Chairman can go crazy while the recruiting team maintains good relationships with other clubs.

"Mate, you know what he's like? Crazy :drunk::drunk::drunk:"

I don't think it's weird. He is taking it straight out of the Eddie Maguire playbook. He is, or should be, the most influential individual in terms of the club's direction and what it stands for and by delivering the message himself, I think it carries the most weight. I can't imagine it having the same impact coming from some list manager, or even the coach.

Sheesh, imagine if he hurts his knees again after all of this.
I think what hawthorn have offered is pretty generous considering - he could be all or nothing - idchate my club toncough up more than that and we would kill for an elite quick mid

He had a big run in with Swallow as well when at a team meeting minus JOM he started to sink the boots into JOM for wanting to leave after the club had had done blah blah and also sent JOM and his father to get treatment in London .Swallow stood up and defended JOM for wanting to leave ..

He's pissed that JOM not showing any loyalty after club has bent over backwards to accommodate Jpm ..

Edit :That's what I heard anyway but could be BS as well ..

O'Meara is leaving because he doesn't want to play at the club anymore something that the Suns need to get their head around whether they like it or not

Hawthorn have offered picks 10 and 48 which is unders and I can see why the Suns aren't happy with that. They can make a stand and refuse the trade to make a point if they like - JOM goes into the national draft and probably gets through to Hawthorn at pick 10 or alternatively into the PSD where Essendon take him, either way the Suns lose a marquee player for donuts.

Yes, the Suns could use pick 8 to draft JOM and block his move to Hawthorn but then have a player that doesn't want to be there - maybe they get something out of him, maybe they don't and he'll ask for a trade at the end of next year so they do all this again. To what end?

They should be pushing Hawthorn all the way to the deadline tomorrow to get something else that ups the trade but at the end of it take the trade and use the draft picks wisely to rebuild a broken list

And they did talk to Lewis but he didn't want to move his family

Hawthorn for their part need to lean on one of their players to move so they've got something to add to the trade or risk missing their major target

Pick 10 and 48 is not unders, its about right.

What did Collingwood trade last year for Trellor? Two first rounders and he is a gun, was playing great footy before being traded and played 20+ very good games this year with no injury history.

JOM hasn't played for 2 years and shown glimpses. His value is based on potential only and that's after a serious knee problem.

Suns are being greedy and posturing. If they knock back pick 10 + 48 they are fools.

Can Hawthorn trade pick 10 to essondon for pick 1 in the preseason draft. Ok did my own research edit. No you cant trade picks in Pre season draft .

And you can understand why.

Don't know that I'd go bagging players behind their backs to their mates though. Does not foster a good environment.

So many trades to be done:

Kersten
Vardy
Delido
Gibbs
Caddy
Hrovat
Tuohy
Omera
X Richards
Lyons
Dunn
Stuart
Witts
Martchbank
Pickett
Marsh
Will Hoskin-Elliot
J Elliot
Lennon

Cloke

That is a hell of a lot of players to be traded with half a day left!
