Anyone think we'll do any trades tomorrow considering the GWS deal is over and done with? On a side note, I had a look at the excellent phantom draft by Knightmare and it had us getting Bradley Hill with pick 46ish. Remembered back to watching draft camp footage of him with an earring and I found it ironic considering the Fremantle connections and the earring. Sounds kind of familiar...

i am concerned about the Maric trade.

Cameron told the Crows that they are not prepared to give up compo pick and that we could have 37 and a player.

Problem is that they dont have anything we would really want outside of their jets.

Connors not that wrapt with.

Nason no.

Thursfield no thanks.

I wouldnt mind Helbig but they would not want to let him go.

We have traded for quality so far.

I dont want spuds being traded for.

Richmond in my view screwed us over big time with Tambo.

We dont want to let them do it again.
I think we are much more smarter and a heck of a lot more calculated this year. We are calculating our every move this year. Its almost like a game of chess that Noble is playing and is giving sweet **** all away despite appearing on all sorts of radio shows a few times a day for the last 3 days.

I suspect it will be a combination of picks and players that get exchanged or it might a 3 way deal that gets us a pick or a player from somewhere else.

I think we tried to right a wrong from last year by getting back that compensation pick but obviously Richmond is too smart for that.

I would consider Edwards but not as a straight swap. There would have to be a bit more attached to it.

I think it will get done but might not be what we originally hoped. We were obviously looking for a 1st rounder or the Bock Compo pick and use it in a separate trade with pick 24 to get another deal over the line but we might have to find another way to skin a cat. Maybe a Jordan Russell via Carlton?!

Because any good side/premiership sides needs anywhere between 12 ans 14 players who can rotate through the midfield.

And yet you want Brisbane to give up two of theirs.

And as for Ports midfield, Francou was a star. James had exquisite skills. Carr was also a very good player. Cornes was a great tagger. You've also missed Burgoynes, Wanganeen and Pickett.

Going to be a huge day tomorrow!

We were reportedly one of the teams interested in him maybe he thinks he is going to be traded?

Do we have poor skills or do the players have non****ing idea where to run, lead or move to?

Skills are fine, we burn the ball because the players are moving to position X and the ball is getting kicked/handballed to position Y. Poor game plan and understanding of the methodolegy.
Spot on! :thumbsu:

I took special notice of the Geelong - Collingwood GF and the amount of times that Geelong kicked it "blindly" out of the pack was staggering. Except they always kicked it to the right spot where there was always a player either running into space or at the least create a one on one contest.

I am hearing the same stories that I heard at the end of 2004. We are miles away. We lack skills. We are rebuilding and won't come good for 3-4 years but a new coach, different set of structures, rejuvenated players and all of a sudden we most skillful and deep team in the league. Not to mention a team that couldn't kick 15 goals to save themselves all of a sudden was the highest scoring team in the AFL with Welsh, Perrie and Hentschel as the key forwards.

I am confident that we are no where near as bad as people make us out to be. There is just way too much upside in our younger player for us to wallow in bottom 4. New voice, new structures, different approach and we will surprise a lot of people next year.

Of course they were, they won a premiership.

In comparison to finding and drafting key forwards who can kick 60 plus goals, midfielders are easier to acquire. If Kurt didn't imply a desire to go home, he wouldn't even be considered. But he has.

Getting Kurt Tippett would be step one in their premiership strategy.

He's also said his big day isn't footy related

Talk is for tmrw:

-We will get Lynch as the swingman for armstrong in a 3 way deal;
-We will get a KPD either Hooker or Thursfield (who was talked about going to Brisb i think to);
-We will go for a back up ruckman (Jenkins or Renouf);
-We will get a quick midf type (connors or Walters)

*Possibly Thursfield and Connors for Maric if they dont give us their compo pick or;
Jenkins and Hooker for 24.

Have also heard now that WC wont give Lycett up, Howard is highly unlikely to.

So by tmrw we could have:
Lynch; Hooker or Thursfield; Jenkins or Renouf; Connors or Walters.

Then the big one over the weekend is the Tippet issue......

When Cornesy and Rowey were talking to Noble on 5AA tonight, Cornesy expressed his dis-satisfaction with what we got for the Gunston trade, in particular the pick 24.

Noble's response that it was part of a much bigger trade so suggested Cornesy reserve his judgement until Monday when it would all become clearer.

Seeing that is the best draft pick we have left, surely it must involve us trading a player to give us greater currency for it to be something much bigger than pick 24.

It wasn't the mini-draft so who or what can it be. I keep coming back to Tippett every time because I can't think of anything else that qualifies at the level that Noble was implying.

Any other thoughts or ideas, folks??

Any info on Jenkins? I hadn't heard of him before this week.

If what you're saying is true and we'll get a couple trades across the line tomorrow then it should be another productive day for me refreshing BigFooty and keeping an eye on my Twitter feed!

Im convinced there was a deal with GWS/Hawth/Adel.
I spoke about this on another thread:
1) Hawthorn got gunston on the cheap;
2) GWS gave us crouch and brown on the cheap;
3) Therefore Hawthorn gives Ladson to GWS for less than his true value.

so essntially we rec Ladson and 24 for Gunston, then we on traded Ladson to GWS with comp pick and pick 10 for brown and crouch.

Brown would have gone pick 10-15 this yr;
Crouch would have gone 2 or 3 this and next yr.

Giving up pick 10 and comp pick (Likely to be pic 8-12 next yr)

Thats paying unders!

But we rec unders for Gunston to.

Luke McGuane is the who was linked to Brisbane.

Apparently he had a real good yr for Ess Res this yr.
199cm i think but is very flexible and quality forward/ruck
Is 4th in line at Ess behind Hill/Bellchambers/Ryder.

Def good enough to be a number 2 somewhere.
i think he is 20 or 21 so still young and developing at a good rate.

Ess are willing to trade and he wants out.

We enquired about Lycett but WC said no.
So its Jenkins or Renouf. But you have to qu Renoufs quality if his home town club (Brisb) who are desperate for a back up ruck arent going for him and instead are going for the retired Hudson????

You've officially done my head in FAITH.

sorry Drummond, i'll give it one more go:
but im convinced the agreement was:

Adel get: pick 24, Crouch, Brown;
lose: gunston, pick 10 and compulsory pick (8-12);

GWS get: pick 10, compulsory pick (8-12), Ladson;
lose: Crouch and Brown (Though they dont actually lose them), packet of chips;

Hawth get: Gunston + packet of chips
lose: Ladson + 24 pick

When you break it up its quite simple to understand and quite fair:thumbsu:

I don't really like any of those.

Especially Hooker and Thursfield.

Edit: Or McGuane. Also spuddish.
