FYI, I rang TW Radio this am and sought clarification on the band 2 compo process.

Wallace confirmed precisely, having checked with the AFL this morning, that band 2 picks come after the first round pick of the INITIAL RECIPIENT in the year that pick is activated. ie. not after the pick of the subsequent holder should it be traded

I might suggest, therefore, that if you were considering trading it, now might be a good year to do so as it's perceived value (given many clubs may suspect you are unlikely to challenge in 2012) is high.

Or, hold on to it and reap the benefits yourself

Of course, the ideal scenario would be to trade it for its perceived (high) value and then have such a good year that the compo pick becomes less valuable than it was expected to be

Anyway, I just noted that this was discussed at length here so thought I'd share it. Be well
Might stop some clubs tanking, if you trade a compo pick away you wanna finish as high as you can.

Bevan? Are you ****ing serious. He's shitter than shit and that's saying something.

Don't know where the last 6 years went, i thought he was still young. Maybe im getting him mixed up with someone else. Don't want anymore:thumbsu:

His name is David Noble and yes the club is already well ahead of you on this.

I'm very pleased to hear this, but have a few questions:
1. How do you know they are ahead on this?
2. What evidence is there that they have ever been ahead of anything like this?

according to Emma Quayle:

this to obtain pick 2 in the 17 yo draft. she goes on to say GWS are only looking at trading two of those picks this year (there are four total but they can trade them this year and next).

I wonder if we're going for Kennedy or Crouch?
It actually said we were after pick one, as the discussion was in the context of what GWS will do if they can't scam to get O'Meara.

The club is not going to come out and state its intentions to its supporters. Nor are they going to talk about them to random supporters via email...

We can. Personally I'd love to grab Pfeiffer. I've watched a decent amount of SANFL in the past 4-5 weeks and he's been the one that's stood out to me as being AFL material and one that fits our needs. 23 year old Midfielder, who can also play roles in defense and up forward.

After all this time... he's still 23! Will be interesting to see if he's picked up, especially by us.

Picked him up in the '05 draft, he'd be 23 going on 24 soonish.

Just turned 24 a couple of weeks ago.

I understand this, so how can James_37 be so sure?
I've never seen anything to suggest we are on board with this sort of stuff in the past, hence my hesitation that we are on this occasion.

Really hope we are though!

According to this, Alan Toovey is being shopped around at up to eight rival clubs have expressed interest. I wonder if we're one of them? Would anyone be interested?

Considering the price on his head, highly doubt it. Sando has said he likes the Geelong model where everyone is on similar salaries and often at a price lower than what they can get elsewhere because they want to be at a good club.

Isn't GC going to trade pick 4 for 1st selection?

AFAIK GWS can't get anyone in the mini draft and any players not selected go into next years normal draft and a new bunch of underage players nominate for the mini draft if there is picks left.

Actually GWS can. They have found a possible loop hole.

But GWS has found a possible loophole that could allow it to trade the first selection in next week's mini-draft to one club, then do a separate deal with a third party to get it back, once it is traded on to that second club

Check out the papers - they're trying to do a scam with Freo and Hawthorn where the pick gets traded around and ends with GWS.

The idea is a band two is worth more than pick 4, I guess. Pick six or seven next year is better than a pick four when they've already taken a dozen players from this years pool, and where they've got a butt load of picks already.

So Tippett is out of here then:D

I honestly think if we want to build a great midfield, the best way to go about it is with nifty picking in the draft and attacking the 17 year old draft. 2014 not 2012. :)

I said they're ahead of you. You claimed that you didn't have faith in Rendells ability to partake in trading and that they should get someone else in to do this, when in fact they had already set up a team to such.
