Kennedy would be too costly and hard to get.

McKinley has always been my choice, I think he would
be nearly looking for an out - with Kennedy and Lacras
having excellent years and pushing McKinley down the ranks.

McKinley would be looking to come back, I think he is also
out of contract - although im not 100% on that.

Also, another to look at would be Chris Dawes from Collingwood.

Chris Knights might be worth a look, although I wouldnt pay
overs for him.

You pay what a player is worth in trades, this isnt about getting bargains... but yes doubt he is the type of player the club will target for that reason, but still ideal imo

I think Dawes will stay at Collingwood, but I think they may put Jack Anthony on the table. Not the greatest player in the world, but is reasonable. And we really need another Jack on the list :)

Brown and McKinley from West Coast are both struggling to get games, and look like decent players.

Morton could be good if he pulls his head in off the field. Maybe having his bro around might help this.

Dowler from the Hawks looks a goer. Mitch Thorpe has the talent, but his body is questionable at best.

Thats pretty much all that both look good, and we might be able to get. I also like the idea of going after Paul Bevan, but not sure what his contract is like up there, or how highly valued he is at Sydney. They are pretty much the only 2 voids we need to fill. Other than that we are looking pretty good in most positions. A decent second ruck would be ideal, but I don't know how appealing that would look to a ruckman to come to a team with an obvious choice of first ruck, and at least 2 developing rucks in Gawn and Fitzy.

Miller and Newton should be enough to get the job done for Roughead right?

Right?!

Thanks Dez, actually didn't know that. It'd been bugging me that we hadn't picked up Barlow....

Although we really should have picked up McPhee/Bradshaw in the pre-season draft ahead of MacDonald. Unless there is another reason.....

No way.

Bradshaw is too old and there were serious queries on his body leading up to the draft, plus with him having only 1-2 years left he would probably only go to a 'contender' or retire.

McPhee would have been the worst decision ever made in the history of our club (it's stupid even by the dockers standards of trading/drafting). Freo gave him $1mil over 3 years, he is only getting a game right now cos Harvey is too stubborn to admit its the worst decision he's ever made. Absolute spud who will be getting $300,000 plus in 2011 and 2012 to play
2nds and be a horrible list clogger for Freo.

What do people think about throwing our first rounder and Rivers for GC's pick 3 or 5?

okay i get on melbourne and respective team boards that our trades will be biased but come on. Rivers right now is hardly a massive fish to land at GC or any club for that matter. The dangerfield trade and the pick 3 or 5 trade is a tad ambitious

leadership, experience and class for a downgrade of 7-10 picks!

Delistings
Miller
Juice
Meesen
Johnson
Bell.

Add
Martin

DELIST: Miller, Newton, Meesen, Healey, Bell, Johnson

TRADE BAIT: Dunn, Rivers,

DRAFT: Established KPF/RUCKMAN.

Will everyone please HOLD THE PHONE on the delistings.
Here is our ruck department:
Jamar
PJ
Martin
Spencer
Gawn
Fitzpatrick
Meesen
(Newton)
(Miller, Dunn, Sylvia)

And everyone wants to get rid of:
PJ
Meesen
Newton
Miller
and often one of
Martin
Spencer

That leaves us with:
Jamar
Gawn
Spencer/Martin
Fitzpatrick
Dunn

One genuine mature ruckman, three medium/long-term projects, a basketballer who is a better KPD, and a pinch-hitter. Seriously? If Jamar went down under those circumstances, we would be forced to throw two of Spencer, Martin, Gawn and Fitzpatrick to the wolves every week - hardly a delicious prospect.

Yes, I want the spuds gone as much as the next flog, but BE REALISTIC PEOPLE. The FD is not stupid enough to halve the size of our brigade of +195cm players in one foul swoop.

So unless BP can get his hand on a mature ruckman from the VFL or AFL (Carlton?), both Martin and Spencer will be on the list next year, possibly along with PJ.

Get used to it, people.

mcphee? are you serious?

and bradshaw is too old, only purpose would be to take pressure of watts and co for 2 years max. This is when games should be put into the youngsters we want for the forward line.

Messen has already been told he is done, Newton is as good as and for mine Miller and PJ will replace them as mature age rookies, the rest will remain...

Not sure its that drastic.

That's news to me... but yes, Messen and Newton are both cactus, my point was that people are going over the top in calling for the heads of PJ, Miller, Spencer, Martin all at the same time. I'd be happy if the first two took Juice and Meese's spots on the rookie list.

I hope we make the call to cut players rather than rookie list them. The rookie list has a proven record now, so we should give ourselves the best chance of finding a player by turning it over.

You are right about turning the rookie list over, but i think that we will. In fact i think we will compleatly turn our rookie list over this year.

Miller and PJ off the main list and on to the rookie list as a direct swap for Spencer and McKenzie. Retaining Miller and PJ gives us a degree of saftey that if Jamar or Bate/Jurrah/Watts get injured that we still have a ready made "senior" replacment availible. Looking at the rest of the list: Healy, Hughes, Meesen and Newton i think we will delist them all, save for maybe Hughes.

Id float Bates name up for trade and see if any side
bites, he would be handy up on the GC.

Bate is talented, but he shirks the task and he is as
soft as we have in our side, Im kinda getting sick to death
of seeing what bate dishes up week in week out - when you
know what he is capable of, talent only gets you so far.

Miller can be delisted aswell.

Dunn should get an opportunity in the forward line and
along with Watts and Jurrah, they will be servicable next
year playing as fowards and only improve as time goes on.
Not to mention the possibility that Fitzy fast tracks ahead
of schedule.

i would put bate up too, but only at the right price.

fitzy lol, he is spencil mk2. will never play, you dont go pick 50 in a shallow draft if you are good
