Trades- Round 3

I'm not suggesting these guys will average 130 this year... although Swan could give it a shake. :eek:

But contrary to your judgement call, I see that the Hayes injury and a less-dominant St Kilda's WILL adversely affect Montagna's output; at least in the all important first half of the season. Time will tell.

So what do you think Pendlebury and Murphy will avg than??

I agree that Stkilda wont be as good and without Hayes may increase attention to Montagna but i cant see him avg less than 105. Still a very solid keeper.

Even if Murphy avgs 115 and Montagna avgs 105 you make 200 points for the rest of the year. Still not worth the trade IMO.

Montagna -> Pendles.
Ablett -> Murphy.

I reckon that's a healthy +5 points over the course of the season.

WINNING.

Definitely: Foley -> Libba
Maybe: Atley -> Curnow

Think the reward outweighs the risk here. I'd hate to miss out on the 2 biggest cows of the year because I want to play it too safe...

between both of them you get 5 points + or each is a 5 point improvment

The thing you must consider is Ablett has one bye left, Murphy has 2. Ablett 20 games avg 110 = 2200 points. Murphy avg 115 (not that i think this will happen) over 19 rounds = 2185 points.

Montagna to Pendles also not worth it IMO. Saints cant get any worse and Montagna would still avg 100 with the saints playing this badly. His team lifts back to top 4 and he will avg 110 or more. Pendlebury cant go any better and he is avg IIRC around 128. Surely that will drop back to 115 when the pies start encountering top 8 teams and he starts getting tags every now and again.

I dont see the worth in those trades.

Check your sarcasm detector DWD. ;)

Last year i picked Rhyce Shaw and stuck with him for the entire year. I was hoping he would 'come good' the next weekend but it never happened. And there'd be some criticising this idea but trading out Duffield?? Just seemed to be a bit too much defensive minded, and I dont see him getting any stints through the middle like last season. Almost set on trading to Grimes but thought i might get some opinions first. Yes I didnt pick Grimes, no need to mention that if you do post a reply to this :P

Don't let one good score suck you in, bro.

Embley has been a proven massive scorer over the years. Not consistently but he has done it on more than one occaision.

In an improved side and in career best form so it's far from the worst trade ever.

Will probably use 2 trades this week.
Currently looking at trading out my mid price mids in Salopek, Palmer, Foley. Palmer is definitely out but my gut feeling tells me to keep Foley so currently looking at:

Palmer -> Libba
Salopek -> Pendelbury

And next week, if Fraser doesn't perform and Foley spuds it up, will be looking to do.

Foley -> Curnow (if he plays well and JS looks good) /Prestia/Mackenzie
Fraser -> Sandilands/Ryder

If Foley scores 85+ against the hawks, then will maybe go Hale -> Smith/McAully (highly unlikely to do this trade unless something dramatic happens to the players involved.)

Looks like this years crop of midpriced mids have failed me miserably :thumbsd:.

Lol improved side...look at the eagles, beaten two bottom 8 sides and think they're top shit

Top bloke :thumbsu:

Both Port and the Roos have only lost to the almighty Pies as well as us, how can 2-0 to start the season not be considered improved, especially when we always get thumped byh Port in Adelaide?

As a trade strategy, look at teams that play Gold Coast twice and are in multi bye weeks ;)

Also, Crows have one more bye for the year and it's a multi bye week. Have some winnable games coming up for next 5 weeks too.

yeah im trading in Curnow and Tapscott. Ive already got libba.

Its all about the cash for upgrades, so those ultra conservative who wont trade until round 5 or so could be shooting themselves in the foot. Id rather run out of trades by round 18 and give myself a shot at the best possible overall score, than hang on to trades like they are points in the bank.

New at all this. Looking at my first trades for the season.
My biggest worries at the moment are
a) I didn't start with Swan
b) I have Astbury and Palmer

From those a little more knowledgable than me, would you suggest

a)Trading out Palmer for Libba, freeing up $210,000. Upgrade Astbury to Enright leaving $27,000 spare and a backline consisting of Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Grimes and Enright as keepers.

b)Trading out Palmer for Libba, freeing up $210,000. Then upgrading either Shuey or Fyfe (DP), to any midfielder apart from Swan ($20,000 short).
Already have Pendlebury, Boyde, Selwood.

c)Do the Palmer/Libba trade and keep the $210,000 for another trade, and maybe trade Astbury for McKernan, giving me another $100,000.

Thoughts?

IIRC Shuey has been scoring quite well recently, should have some faith in your midpricers that are actually performing! If not then option a sounds the best out of the lot.

I meant 5 points total. i.e. 0.272 ppg improvement. Still you'd take that. Solid jump up the overall ladder. :thumbsu:

Shuey and Fyfe are both averaging about 80. Both have had game in the 60's and then around 100, so both can put up decent scores. Keen to keep them, but would trade one if it meant I could get Swan.

Definately going to do the Palmer into Libba trade, just not sure whether or not to then go straight into the Astbury into Enright trade, or downgrade Astbury to Mckernan and pocket about $310,000 to play around with next week.

if you have any cash cows that need sideways trading, then now is the time to do it.

Unless of course you have all of Curnow, Libba, Tapscott, Lower, Bewick, Darling, Savage and Heppell. And if you do, then well done :)

I want Curnow and Tapscott out of that group. If they are named for round 3, they are must haves.

I just got to offload Atley. No way Kangas turn it around now that they are in fighting like a bunch of old women.

Picked the wrong Dogs rookie in Wallis - will be offloading him for Libba, Curnow or someone similar this week

I like option 1
Im in a similar spot with Kenedy from the swans and Astbury.
Will be doing the libber/enright swap for sure.
Only downer to enright is his 2nd bye is week 2 of finals. But he is one of the few permiums performing to price right now.
