Kyle Riemers wears orange boots. ORANGE. And he love a goal celebration. He's like Brad Green with wicked cool TATTS on his GUNS.

Snickers bar and carton of milk-yoghurt may not get it done. We may need to SWEETEN THE POT for this one. I have just purchase a yummy apple muffin from the bakery. I'm eating half and putting the other half in the POT to make it SWEET.

But, Hawks fans, this is where it gets good. When Kyle and Ricky are introduced to much fanfare at Waverley, there is a special surprise. I've received special dispensation from the AFL to give both players the same guernsey number.

Shouldn't we age the half muffin first before putting it in the pot?

You clearly don't understand trade value. Just like Kyle, fresh is best.

I think the last two pages of this thread are proof that the trade period is too long.
The last 2 pages? The last 2 threads more like it. A lot of nothing going on other than suggestions of getting Dawes, Rodan, Hooker and Reimers. Who's next on the list of rubbish hacks? Dean Polo perhaps?

Consistency for Greg Broughton is still an issue for mine considering by the sounds of it people want him played in the middle. That is where he has struggled at times and i would think his best footy is played down back. We don't have a spot for him down back though so personally I wouldn't bother going after him.

He played the majority of last year in the midfield, he finished 3rd in the B&F which suggest he was far from Inconsistent.........this year he started the year of as a lock down defender, then was moved all over the place because the team suffered injuries, he was the one player moved because he was the most versatile out of the lot....One week he was playing a defensive forward on Fletcher the next he was back to the backline, followed with a stint in the midfield, he then suffered a hand injury at round 16 and missed the rest of the season........how do you get continuity for the year when your the clubs Mr fix it.

If the price was right we could do a hell of a lot worse.....he'd be an ideal replacement for Young if he decides to go.

I wouldn't say he played the majority of last year in midfield. He played a bit but I would still say he played the majority at half back. I just don't see there being a spot for him, don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind him at Hawthorn but its just not going to be feasible.

A big NO on Broughton. He would genuinely be competing for game time with players already on the list and if that is the case there is no point. Go for a drafted youngster who will come cheap with a possible future.

Besides, Broughton has never been quick and will only get slower. Please no.

Disagree with this logic. It suggests we should be happy with the players we have, without trying to improve our list. What was the point of picking up Burgers given we had a full compliment of mid-fielders? And would Lake have competed with Gilham etc for a spot at FB? Lake was traded in because he is a better player than those we currently have on the list that would compete for the FB spot.

Not arguing your point on Broughton, just the bit on competing for spots.

I would.....he played a fair chunk of the season as a mid last year.....Mundy had a season ending injury half way through the year add in Barlow who was returning from a broken leg...there midfield was in shambles in 2011.........There is most definitely a spot for him in our side, he can play on the backline or on a wing......the key word here is versatility. As a backman, he can play both roles as a lock down or provide run and creativity. He can allow Birchall to move up the ground if he's getting locked down and dragged to the last line of defence or he can allow Suckling to also be moved higher up the ground.....I don't ever want to see Suckling one out in our defensive 50 ever again.

Terry Wallace just said that he thinks Rodan would be a great fit for Hawthorn.

I rest my case.
You didn't listen to the end of the sentence, he also said that Rupert Betheras would be a great addition.

I've GOT it - the greatest most mind numbing trade week stupendous trade

better than Brett Thornton
Better than David Rodan
BETTER EVEN than Nathan Carroll

Back in the year Buddy was drafted the mighty (and I use the term advisedly) Tiges had the option of Buddy BUT went for Richard Tambling - since then he has been traded to Adelaide where he lingers somewhere on the list - he has forever lived under the shadow of Buddy

BUT...

What if we made a play for him - he would be cheapish. At some point someone thought he could play football. WOuld no longEr face having to be compared to Buddy as they would be team mates - Buddy could nurture him (or at least be his wingman to help him pick up) Hell I think we owe it to the lad

any takers??

anyone?

My logic questions why you would bring in established players that are no better than what you already got (especially when you will be paying them a premium to come to you in most cases).
Broughton is serviceable but he is no better than what we have.

Burgoyne was always in a different class all together. You should know that.

Would be the biggest draft/trade steal since....ever!

You obviously haven't tried aged muffin. It matures like a fine wine, much better than fresh.

Broughton is a solid half back flanker who can play in many positions. Probably only plays half back well, as the other spots are probably more as a pinch hitter. Is a pretty good player... where was it stated that he is now trade bait?

Greg Broughton can play. The trick is to turn him into a player that suits out system, as we have done with guys like Burgoyne and Guerra. He could easily be a depth midfielder pushing for best 22-25. I'd be taking him well ahead of Rodan.

Broughton is a very average footballer, he has no outstanding attributes and we don't need him in our side stunting the development of some of our younger players. He has nothing to offer us to make us a better side. Seriously some of the players that get brought up in these threads just make me shake my head. I'm so glad our recruiting department have mainly gone for quality over the years and addressed our needs (gibson, burgoyne, gunston etc) instead of recruiting players that offer us very little. Players like Broughton will offer nothing new to our side and we don't need to waste draft picks on a mid 20's average slow player.

I beg to differ.....that he is not better than what we already have, I think he could brings more versatility to our side than what we currently have.....especially to our backline and our list depth.
Other than bad kicking IMO the two positional areas that cost us the grand final were in our back line. The Guerra loss was massive.......we did not have a competent small to mid backman ( Suckling was a massive liability) the other was having Birchall locked down to the last line of defense.... Having another player that can free up the rotations from defense to the middle with either Burgoyne or Hodge and Birchall and Suckling to the wing.....I think is a blessing.

If the price is right and its going to cost us anything more than a Clinton Young.....then I would do it in a heart beat.
