Good
good insight brother, made some very good points.
Kelly is a flanker, and I see him more of a forward.
Gillies is shit full stop, I don't think I could cheer him in hawthorn colours.
You forgot abt litherland there, interesting to see if his contract is renewed
In all the games I saw Kelly play he seemed to be stationed at CHB and FB on the opposition key talls which is a fair effort for an 18/19 y.o at VFL level. He is versatile enough to be a flanker and use his run as well. I haven't seen him play forward so I can only go on what I saw him do this year and where Hawthorn/Box Hill decide to play him. He might well be able to do that as well.
Litherland I see more as a taller running player suited to the wing, similar to an Isaac Smith. I saw him play in a practice game against North at Kardinia Park last year (before he had his injuries) and the thing that struck me most about him was his pace. He took a mark on the wing against one of North's smaller running brigade, and from a standing start just ran away from his opponent as if he was standing still. For me it was that play and the debut of Hale that I remember most about that game.
I'm not sure where Angus sits in Hawthorn's plans but would definitely love to see him have an injury free year to show what he can do. With the amount of players going at present (Bruce, Bateman, Murphy, Boumann, Young and probably Gilham) I think a few fringe players will be retained so Angus should get another year to show what he can do.
I do suspect one more player, on top of the 6 named, will go and that is likely to be Grimley due to too many rucks being on the list. Duryea will therefore likely survive the cut, which will please his many fans on this forum.
