Good
good insight brother, made some very good points.

Kelly is a flanker, and I see him more of a forward.

Gillies is shit full stop, I don't think I could cheer him in hawthorn colours.

You forgot abt litherland there, interesting to see if his contract is renewed

In all the games I saw Kelly play he seemed to be stationed at CHB and FB on the opposition key talls which is a fair effort for an 18/19 y.o at VFL level. He is versatile enough to be a flanker and use his run as well. I haven't seen him play forward so I can only go on what I saw him do this year and where Hawthorn/Box Hill decide to play him. He might well be able to do that as well.

Litherland I see more as a taller running player suited to the wing, similar to an Isaac Smith. I saw him play in a practice game against North at Kardinia Park last year (before he had his injuries) and the thing that struck me most about him was his pace. He took a mark on the wing against one of North's smaller running brigade, and from a standing start just ran away from his opponent as if he was standing still. For me it was that play and the debut of Hale that I remember most about that game.

I'm not sure where Angus sits in Hawthorn's plans but would definitely love to see him have an injury free year to show what he can do. With the amount of players going at present (Bruce, Bateman, Murphy, Boumann, Young and probably Gilham) I think a few fringe players will be retained so Angus should get another year to show what he can do.

I do suspect one more player, on top of the 6 named, will go and that is likely to be Grimley due to too many rucks being on the list. Duryea will therefore likely survive the cut, which will please his many fans on this forum.

Flood out - Ratts in equals another chance for Grimley I reckon - big fellas don't fall off trees (they are too tall for a start) and I reckon this fella needs a change of voice.

I hope this is the solution :thumbsu:

In 2012 the ruck order was Hale, Roughead, Bailey, McCauley, Lowden, Pattison, Grimley. While Pattison is unlikely to survive on the rookie or get upgraded that still leaves Grimley with a bit of ground to make up. To be in the Box Hill Reserves after 3 years isn't ideal. Maybe a new voice would help but he would still require a catastrophic run with injuries to get a game.6 ruckmen in a list of 38 is too many I would think.

Where would you see him fit in our best 22?

I dunno, maybe as a CHB which was where he was recruited from given his role on Charlie Dixon.

I'd like to see him given a go at it because he is not a ruckman's areshole when it comes down to it.

Serious micro list mismanagement by Clarkson and all the more reason why the role must be redefined if we are ever to be successful.

The Ratten appointment should be a good get in conjunction with Bolton.

Nowhere near it. He'll be lucky not to have his contract paid out for the 1st list lodgement.

If he was rookie listed he'd be a dead certainty to be cut, as Patto had 3 times the season that Grimley did, and everyone thinks he's the first one to go from the rookies.

I will never be happy whilst Lee from Lilydale is dining out for free on a Furburger - not so bad in the boudoir but weak as piss on the radio Dasher, particularly sucking up a jockey's arse - geez that takes some bending.

Any tips CP?

On sane and balanced - not me, but it's good reading what you guys have to say. Don't get to see or hear anything about our players at BH over this side of the country so it's always good to hear what others think about the next line coming through. No doubt the madness will start again tomorrow but for now enjoying the read.

Remember when we had seven ruckmen and they all got injured and Hodge had to play ruck, back in 2010. I think 6 is a reasonable number of ruckman. Besides I wouldn't really classify Roughead as a ruckman. He pinch hits in the ruck. So next year it is Hale, Bailey, Lowden, Pattison, Grimley. I think they will all survive because we already have four free spaces on our list to go to the draft with (five if Gilham leaves). And we have shit draft picks so we won't draft many in this year. Schneider will probably get upgraded. That would still leave three spaces for draft picks. With how injury prone Bailey is, I think its better to err on the side of caution and keep five on our list.

Zac Dawson
Kepler Bradley
Richard Tambling
Cale Morton
Justin Westhoff
Matthew Westhoff

Nah I would look at Lucas Cook though,

If we can't get Spencer White :)

Can't tell ya or I would have to kill ya ;)

But I was serious about Lucas Cook could turn into a jet, also we need back-up if Buddy & my boy Gunners goes down... :)

Gohawks, aussie80s, other bh watchers what are your thoughts on Taylor duryea and Langford? With Murphy going we are actually short players who can play the small defender role (I don't rate Cheney). Will duryea make it and will it be as a defender or a forward? Langford appears to have the athletic tools to develop into a running player but appears a way off - is he any chance for 2013.

Get rid of them all, I would keep all three

Agree, we need KPF depth and he is just the guy, one player who really should develop into a good player. I really hope we try and sign him up

Melbourne are delisting him. This probably means he is ship. If he was any good they would keep him, especially considering he was a high draft pick that they would have had high hopes for. It seems like Melbourne wasted an early pick and that he hasn't lived up to the potential he showed as a junior.

He has had a few injuries which have held him back which has not helped his ability to gain muscle and then with Neeld coming in and getting Clark and Dawes there isnt really much room for him especially since they have gotten Hogan now as well. He is still only 20 and plenty of time left to develop, i don't see why it would be a bad thing to pick him up as a free agent.

I don't think they gave him enough opportunity, & we are talking about Melbourne's development of Forwards... aka Jack Watts still sucks as a forward
