I say we target these 2 players on the Eagles list. Ben would strengthen our forward line as he is not gettin an opportunity at West Coast, i think he'd fit in well with our current structure, as he is a leading/marking forward and that is something we need. I think the change in clubs and a return to Victoria would see him recapture the form he showed in 08/09.

As for Mitch Brown i think he is a promising KPD and one that we definately need! He is a victorian and i think he will be a gun in the future, and we should target him as much as possible. I think the Eagles hav a surplus of KPP and that he will get a greater opportunity holding down a key defensive post at Carlton.

Maybe a 3-way trade involving Jacobs and a pick/Small forward could see this getting done. Maybe involving port adelaide as they seem to have some quality small forwards.

Thoughts??

I'm all for picking up these two players ..except they are not worth what the Eagles will want for them ...if anyone even suggests trading one of Yarran, Garlett or Betts for them, then they need their heads read.

Far more interested in Brown than McKinley.

McKinley offers nothing when the ball hits the deck in terms of repeat efforts and pressure on the defenders - and that's something we've been focusing on.

Having said that, he does have a fair bit of talent so they would have to have a look at him - and take him if he came really cheap.

Brown would be a nice get as a tall defensive option but they'd want too much for him in return.

McKinley is struggling to get a kick in the WAFL so I would not be offering up too much for him if anything at all. I would rather put time into guys like casboult and donaldson then McKinley.

Brown is an interesting one, Worsfold does not know whether to play him forward or back so he hasn't had a consistent run at either spot. Again I would not want to be paying too much for him.

This. Don't need Mckinley, is too slow and offers very little defensively and as stated can't crack a league game anyway. Would rather get to a point where we can use someone like Gibbs on a HFF.

Brown is a better defender than forward and should be played there. Is a good size but I wouldn't offer Betts, Yazz or Jeffrey for him which is want Woosha wants.

i agree, y not target these 2, u cant see them playing 4 the WCE, BETTER SUUPLY FROM OUR MIDS TO MCKINLEY WE MIGHT FINALLY SEE HIS REAL TALENTS

Why would want to trade for players that are struggling to get a game at the wooden spooners?
McKinley - too slow, lack of second efforts
Brown - poor decision making, average disposal

West Coast are not on the bottom of the ladder by chance - they are genuinely shit, most of their list is crap, even their younger players are average, in fact their future is bleak, very bleak.:D

Disagree, we need to find someone who can consistently take grabs in the forward 50.. Hendo is getting better and Waite is good but slowly closing in on 30 now (will be 28 at the start of next season)
Our defensive pressure and crumbing in the F50 is fine.
M.Brown would be alright as a key defender but we need a #1 defender and Brown would get towelled up more than Jamo does

Agreed. He's being handled in much a similar manner to how Henderson was at Brisbane. The difference is that he's more of a natural defender than he is a forward but the Eagles inadequacies (aside from JK) with their tall forwards has seen him moved around far too much.

If given a consistent role could become a gun key defender over time with our mob.

Disagree Batman on Mitch Brown. Brown is a good defender who needs a chance with half decent players around him like we can offer. I think he would be a great get for our backline depending on what we have to give up of course. Big thumbs up for Brown.

McKinley i am not as enthusiastic to have play with us and he is a pass for me but we should definantly be talking to Brown and putting the feelers out there to see how interested he is.

No and no.

Ben McKinnley is just an average mark and kick man. He offers nothing we don't already have and he is a shaky kick at goal at best.

West Coast would want way too much for Mitch Brown. He is a high, but as yet unproven draft pick, and West Coast would want at least a first rounder for him (need a decent player this year too, seeing as our first rounder would come in the 20s). I'd rather Carlton picked a KPP in this year's draft.

Isn't that exactly what I said?

Our defensive pressure and repeat efforts in the forward line are excellent - Eddie, Jeffy, Yaz, Robbo, even Hendo and Waite getting in on the act. That's what we've worked on in the preseason and throughout the season proper - and we are doing very well in that regard.

The point is that getting McKinley would be detrimental to that - as talented a goalkicker he is, the fact remains that he offers 0 in terms of defensive pressure and repeat efforts. Once the ball hits the ground he is nigh on useless - and that's not what we want to bring into the club.

However, there's no denying he has talent and I'm never totally against getting a talented player to the club, especially if they are still reasonably young. For a 4th round pick, I'd be all for it, and we could try and work through his deficiencies as a player. Anything more than that, and I'd be reluctant - probably preferring to explore our options in the draft.

Mc Kinley way too slow - Liability
Brown - Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane, would have to toughen up - Junior Thornton a non contact body specialist in the making.
