This is an absolute disgrace. It has happened again. I was caught up in this last year for the final against St Kilda. I vowed never to take the train to the footy again. Lucky i didn't. I can't see this improving it will happen again.
In all seriousness the footy club can complain all it likes but as if V Line will do anything they can't even get the weekday to work trains right.
I think the footy club needs to be proactive on this. Why not just hire a heap of buses and take all the fans up ourselves. Hire 20 or 30 buses Helene Bender is on the board surely she could sort this. Leave from the footy club at a few designated times and even charge punters a bit less than the train. The footy club doesn't need to make money out of it just cover costs. It is more of a service for the fans.
They would get to the game on time and travel with other fans in a seat and not on the floor which happens often on the train. That would take V Line out of the equation and maybe make them sit up and take notice when no one catches the train but the club buses. I for one would catch that sort of bus it would be great fun.
Surely this is doable. I urge the club to take a proactive approach on this one. It would only happen 3 or four time a year and plus finals i reckon it's a winner. I would take this option over the train anyday.
I hope this is not just me, but it seems like a good idea.
