Mason Cox spent 50% of the match on the pine. Had 6 Disposals. 2 turnovers, 2 free kicks against.
In 2022 he got the least disposals of those playing more then 10 games and the highest disposal/turnover average,
in 2022 averaged 8,4 disposals, 1.6 free kicks against (-0.4 in frees for./agn), 2.7 disposals per turnover. 64% time on ground. And kicked 7 goals total

Last week kicked 2 goals it have 22 games scince he last got on the score sheet twice.

He's not a solid best 18 player starting if we have other options to think about with rucking.

Maybe he;s sys thingis btter ow and he'll take more mar\kss and goalst his year. Bt of Kruegs was fit and firing it woudl remain a pisbsle replacement for getting more overall,

What are you on about?

Cox was terrific in Rd1…… 16 hit-outs mostly straight into Mitchell’s hands, 5 marks, 6 kicks and 2 goals, including an incredibly good set shot snap from wide out on the boundary line.

Cox has had plenty of shockers over his career but last week wasn’t one of them. You need to get over your bias.

Cox is much better as a 70% ruck, 30% forward. With Grundy in the side, he didn’t get to do that. But he will now. I’m betting 2023 will be his best ever season. Get on board the Cox train! Toot, toot!

5 hits out to advantage claiming most to Mitchell's hands is hyper bole. Can we at least have a discussion grounded in reality? MOst of his hitouts were ineffective. Though he did set up Adams with a nice one in the forward line.

Of the 2022 Ruck stats of the 26 rucks in the league getting mpre than 10 games, Cox was 21 out 26 for hits to advantage. Cox is has some notable wins in the ruck but on average he;s at lower end of Ruck performers.

Cox was mostly poor in the in the Ruck last week. He has his moments but in the ruck or up forward his contribution is spasmodic. It can be very good, but not consistently.

he spent half of last week's game on the pine. He was playing so well the coach thought the team was better with him off he ground half the time,.

He had a good game up forwards and he got 2 goals. His his first 2 goals haul in more than a season and a half.
Maybe his eye sight problems are somewhat better and he may perform better than last year where he kicked 7 goals.

Cox attended 36% of Collingwood Ruck contests kicked 7 goals and had 64% game time. Of those with 10 games 8,.5 disposals(only Ollie Henry got it less) . turning the ball over every 2.9 disposal ls (turning it over the most)

Question: is Ginni banned from all games or just AFL games? Can he play VFL this weekend?

VFL too which is why it’s a shame the vfl play prior to the afl game, otherwise might exploit yet loophole like we did with Stevo

So what exactly is your point?

We have Cox and Cameron in the cupboard because we have chosen to recruit and remunerate players in other positions. Personally I support that prioritisation of finite money and picks.

So why not back the guys we do actually have to the hilt with belief and positivity, instead of being a misery guts - especially when the guy you’re whinging about actually had a genuinely good game in Rd1 and is about to have a career-best season!

Go Pies!

If you think we should drop Cox, who are we replacing him with?

If you don't I can't see the point of your post.

Objectivity.

The ban was enforced by the club, not the AFL afaik. The only loophole they’d need is to say that the ban is from the senior team.

Wasn’t the pies ban the practice games but the afl ban was the afl games

When they accepted the ban didn't they say that it was VFL games as well. That's why he didn't play on Saturday would be my guess.
yeah, its usually the case when you get an AFL ban. Like with Stevo.
Its a shame. Probably why he is doing extras at training.

Nope, pretty sure it was all the club. Regardless, if they’ve said ban from all levels they won’t go back on it.
Club is using this as a chance to stamp out problematic behaviour early and ensure we don't have another off-field mess.

Objectivity.

Im all for objectivity. Cox played okay but not brilliantly, along with McStay, Quaynor, WHE, and a few others.

In the absence of another ruck, we’re committed to playing him among with Cameron (who played well but also not great.) We committed to that when we traded Grundy. that’s how it is. We’ll just have to recognize that Cox will be inconsistent - as he always has been - for the rest of his career but if he improves his bottom level he’ll be fine.

Will be interesting to see what we do with kreuger. I hope he can get his body right. He was in defence at geel and we brought him in as a forward. But with checkers and mcstay, cox and Cameron rotating, then reef as a third tall, prob no room atm. As a defender he could still be useful.

Defence might prevent him from attacking the ball like a lunatic.

Crowd emotios and popularity are an irrational basis for selection.

Nearing 100 games, irrelevant. !00 Goals but only 7 last year, has not been a real goal kicker for some time.

It's what he contributes and strengths and weakness versus who else is available/
Kicked 2 last week, took a couple of handy grabs and did some good ruck work incl the Adams goal.
Well and truly did his job and has done since he got used to his glasses and had his eyes fixed.

To me, he often has more impact that Cameron, but in tandem they get the job done most weeks
