So we had a closed session at the G. Somebody from Melbourne would have been watching for sure.

Last time we played the Demons, there was so much talk of our game plan being shut down by not allowing us to move the ball through the corridor. Our coaches will be trying to change that.

They did shut us down, but it wasn't just the guarding of the corridor; there were many absentees that day and reports of a virus impacting the team. We were ripe for a loss.

I think we are in better shape this time around, even without Nick.

I thought he looked good on Friday - first time that I thought that he looked upto the level.
He’s not displacing any of our mids on that performance, let’s be serious here yes it’s a good effort and he deserves a pat on the back but it’s no where near the standard especially against a poor quality side.

Mitchell
Adams
Pendles (Elite kick and mind but slow)
Lipinski (Good kick but slow)
Bianco
Carmichael
Macrae

Enough to qualify as “plenty”?

Bianco, Lipinski are not inside mids. Mitchell’s body I fear will not be capable of playing inside for a full season. Carmichael is unlikely to be given another contract.

So Macrae definitely is required.

Nobody is saying that that, but just saying he looked more comfortable and fit in at senior level than ever before. But that performance is also on to build off going forward.

Three of those are over 30.
Bianco is a half back
Lippa is an outside player
Carmichael, who knows whether he'll be around.

Fin is definitely needed.

Come 2024 I’d have Macrae playing the first 6 games ahead of Titch or alternatively in our mid rotations.
It’s time to start developing our next generation of mids and Macrae is the obvious “first up”.

The MCG training was probably more just getting out there having a kick but the occasion was more about a lunch to wrap up the home and away season. Wouldn’t read anything into any reports of the actual training. Channel 9 reported Nick training with some grainy footage they managed from outside.
I reckon it was more leisurely kicking around like pre game warm ups.

No.

Adams is not slow and plays half his time in the forward line.
Lipinski is not an inside mid.
Bianco is not an inside mid and is a reserve.
Carmichael is a reserve.
Macrae is a reserve (albeit more promising than the others).

I personally don’t think he fits our list profile/needs. We have plenty of one-paced inside mids with mediocre kicking skills.

I think Fin should look to move to a club such as West Coast or Essendon, where his in-and-under extraction skills are in shorter supply.

That's some crazy talk LL. I like crazy but even so, 🥜

To be fair to you, I questioned whether we needed to get Mitchell since we already had Macrae and Carmichael. So can see why you'd argue that we didn't need Mitchell -- since Macrae will replace him in the next year or two.

I can see it working, I can see it failing and I'd hate to be a selector. Ginnivan deserves to play, so does Elliott. Hill has his merits as does McCreery. Going to be one big week on the training track for them all.

Elliott is a top 5 player in the team, he's in no doubt of being best 22.

You could mount an argument for any of the other 3 to be the sub, Ginni being the most likely candidate.

Spot on.

This is why people need to put Ginni's game into context as well. It was against a rabble.

You know what they say
You can only verse who is in front of you. Not their fault essendon were terrible lol

In fact, Ginni kicked his 3 goals all on Redman who was selected in the AA squad of 44... :p
Who is a good defender, but yes lets put down players performances because we made the opposition look terrible. How about giving our players some credit for the hard work they put in.

Not at all. It was a very strong performance in the first 45 mins of the game. Everyone should have gone home at 1/2 time.
When the game was there to be won in the first quarter, players stood up. Think thats what is most important.

Here are some pics from training on Thur.

Beggy. Hair in motion.

Agree, I wasn't suggesting he would, just that he looked up to the standard.
