******* Sheedy....watching us train again.
Who cares. He would forget what he saw before he got back to the car park. And that is assuming he even understood what he saw.

Has anyone else noticed that Brett Rosebery (the umpire) has appeared in the training videos at the Hawks camp on Sunshine Coast? I've noticed him a few times as well as another guy in the umpire training gear, seem to be involved in all the running and maybe they have him up there to help officiate or go through rules and umpires interpretations ? Just found it weird

Interesting. I wonder how they've made this happen. If he's still umpiring, and the Hawks are paying him for this time, I'd be a bit worried. However, if the AFL found a way of employing umpires during the off season and assigning one to a club (or even on rotation) I think it would be a great initiative. Help clubs/players better understand the rules, and get a bit more $ in the umpire pockets and move them towards fully professional.

It's been happening for a while. The umpires department sends umpires to clubs training so they can practice and get more experience, eg they can umpire 100 marking contests, ruck contests and some match simulation. This also allows the players to practice with umpires paying frees for infringements and educating players.

Yeah, i'd heard of this, but wasn't sure whether the appearance at the training camp was something even beyond that?

Funny reading the arguments about Hartung not bulking up yet etc.

I always saw the recruitment of 3 elite runners in hill/Hartung and smith as "ball taxis" for the older brigade to prolong their football life lol

anyone see that fan that had the chance to train for a session with the hawks and made it 2/5 drills through. bloke looked in alright shape too. Personally i think id be able to get through 3 drills possibly four at my absolute peak fitness of the past few years. Anyone else reckon they would stand a chance?

Was telling when he could barely even make the hop over the rolling players in the commando drill during the second set. His legs would've been jelly. Completely fatigued.

At my peak I perhaps might've matched that guy. No chance of getting any where near finishing.

Also highlights how fit these new draftees are. Coming into their first AFL preseason and doing all or most of this nearly every day for a couple months.

I may have missed the reason but can someone confirm the issue that Gunston had with his hand which resulted in the glove being worn. Has he had it attended to in the off season?
Was a finger issue of some sort I think. Thought it was fixed up at the time and then the glove was part of the recovery that eventually he decided to stick with because he got used to it.
