Nothing on the Crows website, but I'm pretty sure they're training tomorrow at Max Basheer Reserve. Am I wrong? Pretty sure I'll be going but I don't want to rock up to an empty oval. :o

Yah, it's on at 9:30. Will probably be raining so bring warm clothes :o

I'll be there, and I've heard of a few others that will be too. I'm 6'3" with short brown hair, and I'll be wearing a green windcheater, long black pants and white sneakers, so if anyone goes and sees me come and say hi :) Just come and ask if I'm Michael :p

you can park in the bus terminal, but make sure it's in an area where it's

As Riggy says, you certainly can. Even though the signs on the street say buses only. I usually park around closer to AAMI though, that's just the way I come. And yes Riggy, wearing shorts last week was dumb as hell, I won't make that mistake again!

thebirdman 24 - I'll come and say hi if I see you dude, unless you say hi to me first :p It'll be cold.

It's the last training session before they break up for the Christmas break so hopefully they go all out :p

7AM apparently :o It goes for three hours though!

I know exactly where I'll be at 7AM on Saturday morning and it won't be at training :o

I went to training today and man, it was like a Bigfooty reunion!! Seven of us were there that I'm aware of, myself, Riggy, Drummond, XztatiK, beagle2, BACCS, and Weekend at Bernie (in order of appearance :p) all came along to watch the boys run around. It was mostly match-day drills again this session, they've been doing a lot of that so far this preseason.

Of the new guys only Jaensch was training today - and yes, the reports of him having a good leg appear accurate from the few kicks I watched him get :D I saw Riley when I arrived but he was heading inside, and I didn't see Luke Thompson or Matthew Wright at all, not that I'd know Wright if I saw him :o Jaensch participated in the main drills for a while, before heading off to the side with the other new recruits at training (Gunston, Shaw and Craig) to practice handballs. Henderson was doing his usual laps and looks damn fit, as well as having some kicks with a trainer where he looked pretty good other than a couple of balls skewing off the boot in the wet. I hope he can get over his injury over the Christmas break and join the main group in January :thumbsu: VB and Rutten were still in the injured group, and Porplyzia was doing laps instead of training, not sure if he's injured or is just trying to gain some more fitness for a midfield move. Other injured players such as Symes, Moran etc didn't show.

In the rain it was a bit difficult to see a huge amount so I don't have a lot to say about many players but I will single a couple of them out. McKernan looked very good when I watched him, he was working hard and getting his hands to the ball. I really hope they chuck him in defense this season and let him run around there because for mine he's ready. Davis on the other hand still looks a little way away but I'm willing to be proven wrong there. Don't get me wrong, he showed plenty of smarts (got caught at one stage but managed to wriggle his way out and dish a good handball off, and I really love his kicking) but he still looks way too small for his height. Give his body another year to catch up I reckon.

Sam Shaw (who seriously looks like a mini-McKernan :D) was working damn hard and getting a fair bit of the ball too, good to see a new guy go hard at it :thumbsu: Jacky was often playing as a leading forward and made some damn good leads, though he still looks like a problem when kicking over 40m.

James Craig is a damn monster already. He's got the biggest legs out there already I reckon and was standing Tippett for a while and gave a pretty fair account of himself. He looked like he was reading the ball well and isn't slow, I really like the look of him. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him debut next season :thumbsu: Will Young is another who didn't look at all out of place and his much-criticised kicking wasn't even too bad.

I'll nominate McKernan as my trainee of the session. After the session I went with BACCS, XztatiK and Riggy to have some lunch at the cafe and saw Moran, Donnelly and Talia all hanging out. Talia somehow looked even more metrosexual than Moran in a tight hot pink T-shirt and blue short shorts :D

Not a lot more to say. I'm going to miss going to training sessions for the next couple of weeks :(

Hopefully one of the other BF people can post about what they saw too, and perhaps some pictures. And for all of you who said you'd be going and either didn't go or didn't say hi to me, shame on you :p

Absolutely freezing, I’m pretty certain it was in the minuses down there. In hindisght I should've packed a couple more jumpers, some gloves, a beanie. Millions of the BF community were in attendance. There was a gale blowing that would’ve been worth about 5 goals, 10 if Knights is on your team. :thumbsu:

Absent were McLeod, Walker and Donnelly. Talia, Thompson and Wright also failed to make an appearance and apparently Aiden Riley left early, before I arrived. In the restricted group, VB and Bock left early while Henderson and Porplyzia ran a ton of laps and are well on track for London 2012.

As people say, normally there’s a few guys that tend to stand out and today I thought there were a couple. McKernan was the standout for me, he looked great. He moves insanely well, like a midfielder even and he could play in any position. Forward, ruck, midfield, and my actual preference this season, in defence. He looks agile, quick, strong and ready to step right in. I’d love to see him playing in defence in Otten’s role. We’ve got a gem here. :thumbsu:

I was excited to see the new draftees as it was the first time I’ve seen them up close. Gunston looked very impressive, thin as a rake but looked pretty skilled. Shaw too is extremely thin and was always stationed on the left wing for the ‘match’ drills and favoured the handball. Jaensch looked okay, a bit lost at times but was involved a fair bit which is a positive. Obviously has a superb kick, when all the players were taking shots on goal he drilled a beautiful goal despite kicking into a significant breeze. Looks very similar to Gunston, just shorter.

There really isn’t a whole lot to write about, it was freezing and at times found it hard to pay attention. Petrenko worked very hard and spent a lot of time working on his kicking. Armstrong worked on his short passes and as usual was full of talk. When Jacky stretched out in vain for a marking attempt and let go an f bomb, Tones chirped in with, ‘Language Jarrhan’. :p

The highlights were Dangerfield showing his genuine class; a beautiful contested mark, a one handed scoop off the deck and also Vince selling some lovely candy to an opponent. Mackay was as smooth as ever, Young’s kicking was more than acceptable and he too was another very involved. Oh yes, James Craig looked excellent, extremely impressed. He’s an absolute tank and is ready to play AFL physically. He’s got good height but even if he doesn’t make it as a ruckman I think he has the agility and athleticism to play as a key defender.

Knights has the best kick ever, which everyone knows. Goodwin and Edwards both looked great, Tippett is a workhorse and doesn’t stop working. Davis aka Gumby looked pretty impressive also. Jonathon Griffin dropped everything, super stuff. Maric, thankfully, looked great. Cook looked pretty good however shanked the worst kick you’re ever likely to see, it went miles off in the wrong direction. Kicking still a concern, a tremendous athlete though and he grabs your attention due to it.

Pictures to come shortly.

Yes, I forgot to mention Walker and McLeod were missing :o I have a feeling there was another I noticed missing too but it might be my imagination.

I could quite figure out what was going on with Armstrong. One minute he's working by himself, then he's joining the main group, then he's practicing kicking, then he's back in the main group again. Very confusing. He's a real character though :p Every time he didn't do something exactly right he'd whine "Oh maaaan" out loud or whatever else. Seems like a hilarious kid :D

I also made it down to another windy and cold session at Max Basheer. Bock, van Berlo, Henderson, Martin and Porplyzia were all in the restricted training group. I couldn't spot Talia, Moran, Symes or Walker.

I quite enjoyed one of the earlier more warm up like that involved the players exchanging long handballs in a fast paced drill. The ball was rarely dropped in the group closest to me and their movement was just so slick. It was really impressive and I think it will be an useful part of our armour especially given our game plan.

In the game style drills a couple of bits and pieces really stood out. Vince kicked the perfect spearing ball into the fifty that was marked by Tippett. His kicking has generally been more high and loopy so this was a nice surprise! He'll be even more dangerous to the opposition next season if he keeps kicking like that.

Griffin also showed some good signs especially when he dived onto the ball and had to fight it out with Dmack to grab it off the slipper deck. Everyone's always saying how he needs to get in there a bit more so here's hoping he keeps it up.

James Craig has really just slotted into training so nicely. I can understand why Neil Craig reckons he's one of the best trainers of the group. He moves very well for a big and baulky guy and I would expect to see him in the NAB Cup next year.

Another newbie, Sam Shaw, always seemed to be finding himself near the ball but I think his lack of size in comparison with the others is letting him down a bit at this stage. He fumbled the ball a few times so I think some beefing up is on the cards!

Jacky was looking good and moving well with the ball and the like but he saw the trainer a couple of times about his left knee. He was able to complete training I think, I didn't stay until the end, but I hope he's alright. He's got the next couple of weeks off anyway.

So yeah, they're probably the main things that stood out to me today. Oh and the moment of hilarity for today's session goes to Vince who took a lunging tackle at Shaw and held on so tight that he ripped the hem right off Shaw's shirt :D

I took a couple of photos as well, which are no where near as good as the one's up on the AFC website, but I'll upload them a little later.

The best part about this was the golf clap given by the 30 or so supporters standing right near where the eventual mark was taken :D

That kick was soooooo good! The conditions made it near impossible to kick low, stab passes but Bernie nailed that one.

I bet he was outmuscled by Dmack. ;)

Yeah Shaw is very thin, he looked involved and got hands on the ball a few times but certainly had a touch of the fumbles.

Annoying, making our photos look so second rate. :p
