Hey guys, quick training update for today.

Training started 10am at Vic Park.

Players absent were: Coughlan, Hyde, Kingsley, Schulz and Simmonds.
Players only doing ball work: Oakley-Nichols and Peterson

Training started with the boys splitting up into 4 groups:
The Debutants worked with Wayne Johnson: King, Reiwoldt, Clingan, Connors and Edwards
The Forwards worked with Jade Rawlings: Richo, Pettifer, Browny, Jackson, White, Krakouer, Meyer, Hartigan
The Backs (couldn't see who they worked with): Gaspar, Raines, Polak, P Bowden, J Bowden, Moore, Hughes, Casserly, Thursfield, McGuane, Newman
The Mids and Ruck worked with Alessio and Royal: Patto, Hall, Graham, Knobel, Tambling, Deledio, Johnson, Tivendale, Polo, Tuck, Howat, Foley,

The first half of the session was pretty low intensity and more just a vigorous warm up.

The Debutants kicked the ball amongst each other for the first 30 minutes, doing several different kicking drills.

The Backs and Forwards worked together. Forwards would make a lead toward a backman running from half back, having to beat off an opponent and take a mark. Browny was the pick of the forwards today, not missing a single shot on goal for the day. Backman of the day was Moore whilst Raines and J Bowden were also impressive.

The Mids and Rucks worked together on the wing just trying to get the feel for throw in's and ball ups.

The whole group then came together, warmed up and had 2x20 minute halves of match simulation.

Overall a pretty light training run to begin with, but the intensity heated up once the simulation match started.

Player of training was Foley. Carved EVERYTHING up that came his way and his finishing was superb.

Disappointment of the day: Danny Meyer. Seemed like everytime he got the ball he miss-kicked it and just didn't dispose to well today.

Hope this has quenched some of your Tigers thirst :p

If there are any Qn's feel free to post and i'll try to answer.

raines not in the midfield group is a joke, wtf is hall doing there?

hopefully they do some clearance stuff so we get first use and not rely on the 25 hbf we have to get it to our forwards

good to se regular updates like this ...

dude, you mention King twice, working with the 1st years (Wayne Johnson) then in the Midfield group (Royal and Steve) is he that good and a step above the 1st years that he could have a chance of a senior match ?

but he is on the rookie isn't he ???

also i am hearing great reports about Howat and Foley ... Howat is on the Rookie ... i hope we haven't made a mistake ... and Foley, buy the sounds of it is going great ...

but i am really disappointed to hear about Meyer ... all bad news with him ...

has he got an injury ??? recovering ??? what is going on ???

Thanks Captain_Brown_7,
(We've got to thank these guys that go to the effort)

Don't worry PLSC, it's going to take some time down at Punt Road b4 they wake up about Raines. I've had the same argument here.....

What's more damaging, Raines running out of the backline looking to give it off up field, OR Raines coming through the middle and heading downtown?

Raines = Backline....My @ss......that's where short sleeved brain cells go to die...

This guy is elite....he plays and thinks above his years....use him!!

----------------------------------------------------
Btw.....watch the smoke screen around Meyer.......he ain't the goods...

Now Foley's going to be something.....friggin little engine!!

Sorry, i did mention King twice. He only warmed up with the Debutants and not the Mids. I apologise for the misprint.

Foley is looking fantastic. Easily the best trainer today. Howat also is looking good, but still a little light on with his body. Good to see him still giving his all even though he ain't on the list yet.

As for Meyer, just a bad day so nothing to get your knickers in a knot about. I got criticised for not putting in any negatives in my report of Monday's training session......anybody know why???? ;) ;) ;)

This is an excerpt from OER website for training on January 15th

Meyer - based on today he'll definitely be in our best 22. Initially started at FF in the first drill and took a couple of marks on the lead. Then moved into the middle for the ball-ups and first contest hit Browny leading on the chest.

Despite, what Deliberate says he is the goods, and this is the first training all preseason where he has been off the boil
