Agree with all your points there, VP.

To really find out what we’ve got in terms of young talent, we’re going to have to create some space in the AFL side to give them an extended run. Departures of WHE and Mihochek help create that space but we might need to go further by pushing the likes of Lipinski and Membrey (& Sidey?) down to the VFL. And the big elephant in the room - Pendles - after he achieves the games played record. That’s gonna take a big, bold mindset shift from Fly and the Selection Committee.
Think Jack Crisp might need the occasional rest.

The “looming retirements”, have largely lost their X factor with age, but not Footy IQ. So replacing their current contribution ( apart from Footy IQ and experience) will not be a great challenge.
💯 Pendles with his on field leadership and coaching is huge. McCartney described Pendlebury’s 2023 GF contribution as decisive and incredible from the coaches box perspective. Sidey and Howe have those IQ moments that are so good. Gotta remember how good they have been and accept their decline. I think Houston and Perryman are a part of the leadership experience transition.

Thanks - what’s the injury?
Not sure. He's been doing lots of running since they returned from NT. Whatever it is, it must have happened up there. as he was training in that first session before they left.

I'm more optimistic as I haven't seen him in defence yet. He's a bit like Billy Frampton in that he's got the tools but it's a question about whether he reacts quickly enough - he didn't as a forward.
he averaged a goal a game, usually with very limited game time, usually being the sub
he seems to me the type of player who needs 5-10 games in a row to feel like he belongs, confidence will grow from that
body has just let him down at the wrong time

I'm not convinced Reef can be a defender. He did kick regular goals from limited TOG. There's a spot there for a "Mr Fix it" play anywhere type now that the hyphen has gone. If Reef was able to do that, he'd only have to play to his strengths then.

He was going to be delisted as a forward. Unsigned after trade week. Got a late reprieve to give him a go in defence on the back of a couple of late season games there in the VFL.

But often his only meaningful involvement in the game is that one goal.

Am I the only one that sometimes forgets Checkers has left?

I get a little shiver down my spine every time I'm reminded he's at Melbourne.

I don't begrudge him getting his bag - good on him. It's just that it's Melbourne. Gross.
Not the only one. I keep forgetting both him & Coxy have left. Probably won't sink in until I see them playing in their new colours.

Could be worse.
Could be Carlton.

It is easy to forget because footy moves on quick

Checkers is Checkers. Unique and cannot be replaced. He loved the club and delivered very well. As a supporter I have a hole left by him leaving for that homeless rabble. May he find a good place there. The space left behind has some young players who I hope will grow the fill the hole in a different way.

That's better than me, I get a shiver in the dark but it's raining in the park in the meantime

I hate all that green stuff modern burgers are full of. Especially when that thin green stuff turns black. None of the majors survive the eye test and are on the Black list. Nothing worse than a delayed inspection and spit. States and country boarders don’t matter. This one seems to have salad balance. Healthy. For the mind.
