Went down to training today for most of the session. I will let someone else do the debrief on activities etc, but I thought I could just put down some notes / reflections from the session.

- Keefe is quick. Saw him outsprint Sinclair and he is supposed to quick himself. For a 200cm guy, if he can use his speed it would be a weapon. His skills are sound, but his opposite foot is above average. Saw him wheel around from 45 (with no pressure) and slot a beatiful goal on his left.
- Reilly is definitely around the 197 mark (rather than 193). He is taller than Ben Reid.
- Anthony Rocca is now a big big boy.
- Dawes had a good session. Looked right on the money with his skills for much of the session.
- I like the look of Fasolo. He is a good kick of the football, and looks like he will become reaosnably strong. Projections to a Chapman type player appear possible.
- Young has quite a way to go with his skills.
- Ben Reid's kicking skills were exquisite. Just can drill players on the chest with a ball trajectory of no more than 2m off the ground over 50m.
- Tarrant is looking more like a senior member of the team. I think the Freo move really matured him alot. Was giving good instruction and taking everything very seriously.

That is pretty much it. It was a pretty routine session.

How did the new Draftees Go you did mention like Gordon,Perhnman and Ugle?

Well that does Prove the Club is telling Porky Pies about Reilly

Thanks for the write up Jelly Bean.

I said this before but is anyone else a little worried about Sinclair? Assuming he's fit he's struggled in the 2km time trial and now is getting out sprinted (Keefe is quick but you'd still think a mid sized midfielder would beat him) by a KPP/Ruckman.

Nah, Keeffe is quick as ****.

I'm not worried at all.

We managed to win a premiership without him last year.
He was drafted @ #62 ffs, hardly a guaranteed productive senior player.

I'm more interested in Leon. Really hoping the pick up of Krak, with his new found motivation, will inspire him to really focus on a massive effort to finish his career with a DESERVED premiership medal.

Never Really Rated Sinclair as he does Struggle at Training I also don't rate his Skills.

JT is way ahead of Sinclair

bullshit

Thomas and Sinclair are aiming for two different positions, one an extractor and one a lightening hard as a cats head outside midfielder. Benny's skills are hardly poor either, not Buckley but isn't a bad field kick

I get what you're saying but it's still a waste of a pick if he doesn't make it, and ideally everyone we draft does something (not that it works out that way). Was it him who played in the NAB cup last year and did quite well before getting injured?

Yes

He also had off season surgery on I believe his shins, so his lack of fitness shouldn't be a surprise

Of course on bf any young player not doing a sidebottom means they are clearly shit and notorious strugglers

Gotta agree with Opti here, Sinclair is coming from a fair way back due to injury and the relative immaturity of his body (69kg when drafted). You'd expect him to follow a similar path to Rounds who was probably having similar things written abut him this time last year and is now being spruiked as a player that could potentially break into a premiership side. Give him time because he certainly showed something in the pre-season game against Richmond early last year.

Great report Pissi again, maybe a little bit too good, I reckon opposition scouts might be reading your blog now to check up on how are going, it's that good.:p

Ahhh! Now that makes sense and now I remember the shin splint thing.

Great effort Jelly Bean and Pissi much appreciated :thumbsu:

The non-sense being written about Sinclair sounds identical to what was written about Rounds while he was struggling through injury.

Right now isn't the best time to be making judgments. Development takes time.

One player i'm worried about is J-Mac. He is at the age where he should be seriously pushing for a senior berth (if not have one) but still seems unable to get his body right.

I agree. I really thought he was going to have his break out year in 2010 but he just can't seem to stay on the park which is a shame. He could be a great player if he could get his body right.

Great work Pissi. I really enjoy reading your work.

J man looks a lot bigger, but walking laps doesn't seem great news for his hammy.

Good to see that Trav is having some sort of goal kicking practice/coaching. But seriously he has to get the basics right.
1. Hands start even on the ball
2. walk a straight line to target.
3. watch ball onto foot.
4. leg follows through in a straight line and keep your head down over the ball.
6. celebrate :)

J-Mac certainly looks bigger. It's not such a bad thing that he is walking laps. At least the club is monitoring him and preventing him from breaking down. We all know he is too good for VFL level but his body has let him down in order for a sustained period of senior exposure. We need to make sure he gets it right or he may well become another Rusling.

Either the "trainer" was firing players up by telling them to work harder but for Wood to repeatedly have to be told to lift his work rate, it really sparks alarm bells about his mindset and approach. Maybe it is his laconic nature (has the Josh Fraser look about him at times which makes him look casual) but we are expecting more from him. Perhaps we are expecting too much but he needs to pull his finger out and show improvement this year and there'll be no excuses now that Fraser is gone as he will get all the game time in the ruck to show his wares in the VFL.

Hoping Macaffer is fine. Nobody is letting on to how serious or not his "injury"/OP really is. He has become a key member of our forward line so with him not out there, his absence will be felt to some extent. I'm hoping he is ok for at least 1 or 2 practice games and then right for round 1.
