Huddersfield could have made an offer for him. As far as I know, clubs liked him but didn't want to commit significant funds to a purchase and long term contract on an "unknown quantity".
A bit silly to say that the move hasn't benefited him. He's got the security of a contract with us, he's had a years great experience at a high level and he'll probably be playing in the premier league next season with all the benefits that come with it. It's been a fantastic move for him, whether he plays a second for us or not.
I don't reckon it will, when we were reportedly interested in January he signed a new deal, if you're in someone's ear and they want to come you don't allow the parent club to strengthen their position.Ebola linking us back to more Portuguese based players.

Plenty did but understandably found it hard to compete with a club who money really isn't an issue for. There were quite a few clubs in for Mooy - I followed his transfer quite closely and also have contacts at Melb City.
Which clubs made an offer, and how much? And how much did Manchester City end up buying him for?
Concrete.Mooy had plenty of clubs interested in him, that much I can tell you.

How many were prepared to pay a transfer fee and give Mooy the security of a log term contract?
It's all well and good saying that Mooy should have gone here or there, but that opportunity may not have been presented to him. We made the commitment of paying a transfer fee and security of a contract. Looks like it was a pretty good decision by us.
But people will always find fault. First they complain because we're paying too much, then they complain because we're replacing outgoing players with incoming players, then they complain because we're making shrewd investments in players. It's all quite funny really.
I've stated previously that the only way being owned by City is good for Mooy is if you decide to give him a chance at playing in the first team. I do not believe that clubs buying players purely as investments should be allowed and for good reason. It's not that difficult to understand.
city were involved. then the usual red mist descends for wc.Yeah, these comments by WC are odd.
He's come back to the A-League, dominated, got a move to England out of it, become Huddersfield's best ever player, secured promotion with them to the Premier League. What is there for him not to like exactly? He has come a long way from where he was before he was bought by City. I reckon he'd be pretty happy with how things have panned out.
Can you ban posters from their own threads? That would be incredibly harsh imoYou've been warned by a mod FAITH so i think you should take what was said on board and learn from it. Tone it down a bit.
I think the thrust is Mooy was never going to get a gig at Citeh, so the transfer seems a tad pointless to some.
He had a poor game yesterday but I was impressed with him in the semi final. Noticed he's only scored twice this season though. I take he's like a Carrick type player then? I thought he was more of an attacking midfielder when I watched him against Sheffield Weds
It's a case though of the rich getting richer. Now if a smaller club wants to buy him (because I can't see him playing at the top end of the PL) then they are going to have to pay more for his services than they would have if they had signed him straight from Melbourne City. It's not just City who does this by the way, so I'm not singling your club out. It's just a practice by the bigger clubs I don't really agree with.Scored 4 fwiw.
For me the deal benefited Melbourne City, Huddersfield and Mooy and will probably benefit us. Hard to say that it's a pointless one.
I don't think it will happen, but I'm not convinced that there is no chance of Mooy making a contribution for Manchester City on the pitch either.
but on the other hand, other clubs may be hesitant to offer mooy a 3 year contract based on stuff with the a league. a loan move gives the club a chance to access him affectively risk free, while mooy gets the security of a contract and now is practically guaranteed either a premier league move or a spot in the city squad. It's a case though of the rich getting richer.
