Yeah agreed, I'm really surprised we landed him with little competition. West Ham were there for a little while but apart from that, no one else seemed to go in for him.
what pisses me off about the walker deal is we didnt include him in it!

Harder for you guys when you've told him he is no longer required to negotiate. How much are they prepared to pay?

We want 50m they are offering 26m. I'm sure sanity will prevail and we'll meet somewhere in the middle.

Diego sounds like he's starting to get worried.

Same. What do you reckon he'd go for? I'd love for us to go for him instead of Barkley. Would make us waiting this long worth it if we find ourselves a late window deal like that
They bought him for 40m and he's never really exploded so I imagine you could prob get him for 40 if PSG are desperate for cash to avoid FFP issues. 2 years left on his contract.

Is Van Dijk even really that good?

He is 50m good, also has a very long deal at Southampton.

Think this one could have legs, Southampton would probably prefer to deal with Chelsea, when all is said and done Chelsea are a more attractive option.

Paying $13 on Sportsbet.

Think he would have been a good get for Spurs. But then could see why he might not want to move there.

You really are in a bad position to negotiate on this one unfortunately. Costa is able to buyout the rest of his contract under FIFA Article 17 as he has less than 2 years remaining on it. Also Atletico can't play him until Jan 2018 so I doubt they will bid any more than the value of his existing contract with Chelsea. If I was Atletico I would let Chelsea pay his wages into Jan and then buy out his contract.

Looks like this one could turn into a real nasty shitfight.

I cant believe a club like AC haven't found a way to get Costa for 12 months before letting him go to AM for next season. Everyone's a winner there

TBH Diegos the one in the bad position. He's burnt his bridges at Chelsea and the only club he wants to go to don't think he's worth the price(Simeone is putting pressure on AM to stump up the cash though).

We've already replaced him in the team so I guess he can choose to go out on loan or train with the under 23s. We arent going to be worried about paying his wages.

Still think this should have been a loan. Too early to cash in.
Number 8 for a striker? Really, Leicester? Come on Jatz and Fryer Tuck, sort this shit out. It's not good enough.

But great signing though. Any word what on the value of the buy back clause?

IIRC There was a story in the papers around the time we were negotiating with City for Walker that said that City refused to include him as part of the deal and wouldn't even discuss him with us as part of a separate deal because they didn't want to sell to a 'direct rival.'

Is Van Dijk even really that good?
I've always thought he was overrated, but that's mainly because it seems that whenever we've played Soton over the last few seasons he's been genuine garbage. Getting beaten easily, diving into tackles, at fault for a number of goals etc.

if thats the case we should have played it straight back to them when they asked for walker and said we wont sell to a direct rival

levy is becoming soft!
