I just hope we manage to attract some half decent players despite being such an unwanted destination. LOL.

Manchester is next only to downtown Baghdad...apparently

they seemingly do a lot of business with liverpool for a club that hates them.
They see a sucker coming and get the champagne ready.
It'd be cheaper to buy Soton's recruiting staff and actually do some scouting themselves.

With the amount Liverpool have spent on buying Southampton players they could have brought the club itself*.

*May or may not be true.

if pep loved him he'd be at the club. clearly there was a monetary limit on how much he wanted him, and now we'll look at other targets. inigo martinez for example is cheaper and much better with the ball at his feet.
Maybe VVD just didnt want to go to City and Peps love wasnt an issue?

Maybe VVD didnt want to go to City and Peps love wouldnt matter?
well if we had bid 75 mil and southamption 'hate' liverpool then surely they would refuse them and sell to us?

my point was, if pep really wanted him that bad he would've at the very least demanded we matched the bid. early indication is we didnt.

Maybe he hates petrol cars and drives a hybrid. You never know

clearly < 75 million.

at the end of the day liverpool get the player they wanted. is it more than they wanted to pay? definitely. but 75 mil to keep lovren and klavan away from first team football is a reasonable price.

obviously keita and van dijk are significant steps forward for liverpool not just onfield, but in terms of intent. but if it's just the coutinho then it's 2 steps forward 3 steps back stuff.
