Personally don't care if VVD didn't want to come to us or we didn't want him.

For me there was never any indication (from the good sources) he was going to come to us, and I never expected he would come to us.

Why? Don't know and don't particularly care. Fir me he wouldn't have been a priority at the price he was going to cost. But that's just me, and I would have flogged Otamendi for £10m last summer.

But we've been snubbed by players before and we've passed on players before. Life goes on.

Im very happy with the signing. I couldnt care less about the price as it's not my money. Considering we have a horrible net spend over almost a three year span, I knew we had the money anyways.

No point spending 75 million on another attacking player when we are well sorted at the other end of the field. It's pretty exciting. Keita and VVD were the prime targets last summer, we managed to eventually get them both. Six and twelve months later, but we still got them.

It's a show of intent.
