Most of the replies to that tweet are Blues' fans saying if they did buy him he'd be on loan at Vitesse. Is that a big deal for CFC fans too or are there bot accounts trying to get likes by copying popular tweets? (EDIT: ...And I just saw Bojan doing the same thing above...)

Normally only see that level of gristle with Man U fans bemoaning Mou.

For real or is that a joke I'm missing?

TBH it'd 50/50 randoms just rehashing someone elses gag like bojan and Chelsea fans complaining about our youf transition which TBH sucks.

If you have good ones then yeah

But you could just name them on your U23 list anyway which doesn't take up a real spot in the squad? Or do you need home grown in your 25 man squad?

It takes up a spot in your 25 man squad. Maybe it's better thought of as 17 spots in your squad being the limit for foreign players (over 21). 8 must be HG.

Ok, interesting, I knew it was a thing but for some reason thought it only really chafed when you played in Europe. I suppose logically most lower clubs are mainly HG players.

Someone like Brentford in the PL could be interesting.

And teams in Europe need the 'depth' and most importantly have the $ for good foreign players, so they are more likely to be juggling numbers.

But it's a main reason why there is an 'English tax' on players. If you can get a good one, it takes some pressure off filling your spots. You can also get HG players who aren't English, of course, but I'm not sure if I can recall one being sold for big money on the basis of counting as HG. Maybe Schneiderlin to MNU?

I assumed buys like Steve Sidwell or Danny Drinkwater at Chelsea; or Jack Rodwell and Fabian Delph to City, etc. were largely about filling a quota. A foreign-minded club like Watford has Deeney as part of the furniture, but the rest of their players feel a bit like filler: Gray, Sinclair, Cleverley, Hughes, Chalobah, and 3 CBs I haven't heard of. That's a bit harsh on the midfielders, but signing Foster as a GK option gives them another locked HG spot.

We have Rashford, Lingard, Jones, Mike, Lukaku, Pogs, Shaw, Young, TFM, Tuanzebe and McTominay who will all likely be first team squad members. Yeah i know the Lukaku, TFM and Pogs ones are silly but thems the rules.

Why are they counted as home grown?

8 home grown within the 25.
thems the rules.
Still racking my brain at how Davies who has exclusively played exclusively in English football yet both is and isn't a HG player.

It"s because Swansea are affiliated to the Wales FA, not English FA.

For the league rules it's about the league you play in, Swansea and Spurs both English for the purposes of the rules.
