Is 200mil correct? That's almost 4mil a week that needs to be removed? That doesn't sound right to me. What would Barca's total wages be per week?
I think it is if this person is including the cap space needed for Depay/Aguero/Garcia/Emerson

In Dermot Corrigan's article for The Athletic (he's their best/most plugged in La Liga writer) a couple of weeks ago about potential outgoings needed, he said that La Liga salary cap rules dictated that they needed to free up around 100m euros before Messi's contract is even signed

So hypothetically let's say Messi leaves, and they need to free up 2-3mil per week instead. My question is, what are Coutinho, Umtiti and Pjanic earning per week?

I reckon it would be lucky to get to 800k combined.

And what happens when they clear that money? Can they then sign players that would take them above that threshold again?
Doesn’t make sense to me.

My understanding is yes. I think its more like the NBA soft cap than it is a hard cap like in the AFL or NFL.

If you're under the cap, you can sign, sell etc however much you want. Once you're over the cap, you're only allowed to spend 25% of any sales earned, and any free signings need to be 25% of outgoing salary if you're still going to be over the cap.

According to this £238m per year (playing squad only):

200mil cant be correct unless it includes all employees & board members of the club.

When Barca swapped Arthur for Pjanic, everyone knew there was something wrong. Nobody knew how bad it was though. Can't believe they have waited until now, when everyone knows they are ****ed, to offload players when they could have done it quietly 12-18 months ago. Now it is a firesale situation.

I hope no one takes any of their players. Now that would be the icing on the cake.

They are going to have to make a call on some of their better players. Nobody should be taking the deadwood on huge wages but Griezmann, Busquets, De Jong, Alba or Ter Stegen may need to be sacrificed.
