Willian didn’t come with a transfer fee attached.
Same as Mhki. The point isn’t how they got there but how they left.

All for free.

Yes, they all left for free. I was just pointing why Willian wasn’t included in the tweet.

It's a discussion on transfers in the transfer thread, all I said was we were turned down signing a CM from Spurs because they weren't allowing any out. You Leeds fans are the ones that got upset that your journo could be wrong (although when others made a similar point to me you were far more receptive to the possibility he was wrong, funny that..).

Very little if anything gets let out of Leeds, it's mostly click bait garbage. Nearly everyone of the signings in the last 2 years have been reported after completion, it's why the Aaronson deal was unlikely to get done.

If Hay has gone with an editorial stating fact, it has come from Radrizanni or Orta personally. He doesn't get his info from anyone else. He's on the ultra conservative side and I can't remember the last time he has reported something that wasn't fact.

It would be a weird hill to die on considering Winks wasn't linked at all during this window by any click bait article. He's not a particularly high profile signing either. It very well may have happened at the start of the window prior to Spurs loaning Le Celso or Ndomdele.

What we do know is, Bielsa rejected Winks' transfer when he was offered by Spurs to Orta in the Summer. Spurs have been trying to get rid of him for a while.

Do I think he's right and all the others like Romano (lol), Ornstein etc are all wrong? Yes. Most of those journo's get their information from agents, not directly from the club owner or directors of football.

Im not sure what your point is in your earlier posts, regarding it as a PR exercise to the Leeds fan base, everyone to a man has been critical of no signings regardless of who's decision it was, probably even more so after the tweet. Most Leeds fans I've read would have been happy with VDB even only for 4 months.

He may very well have been offered early in the window, I read it as being offered near the close of the window, so if that's not the case then fair enough, but a number of sources seemed to suggest Spurs weren't looking to loan out any CMs which is why it seemed such a strange one.

He never mentioned when in the window he was offered and I don't know when Hull went after White, but remembering Bentancur wasn't signed until the 11th hour and Le Celso and Ndombele weren't loaned out until the end of January either.

Spurs may have tried to move Winks before the other two, they have certainly been trying to offload him for a couple of windows now.

Hay doesn't fabricate stuff and he certainly isn't used as a puppet. He's conservative to the point it grates Leeds fans, as often he's the wet blanket that pours cold water on most of the rumours.

The VDB stuff makes sense, considering he was looked closely at very closely by Palace prior to opting for Everton. It sounds like the financial terms weren't outrageous, given the amount of CM's Palace have....

From one of our Tier 1 journo’s Jan 5.

Pretty outrageous then that Bielsa vetoed both of those as they would have added much needed depth and just about guaranteed you safety. If you go down now there'll be a lot to answer for.

Yep, live by the sword die by the sword.

He thinks he has the squad to stay up when injuries return.

He really only wanted Aaronson if it was doable. Seems likely in the Summer.

Going by Bamford this season, I think that should be 'if' not 'when'.

Would be funny if they need Dembele gone to register him.

This is a long-ish read on it however it covers that topic quite well. The transaction appeared contingent on Dembele leaving earlier in the piece, however it will still go through with a lower wage for Aubameyang due to Dembele staying (seems approx 90k euro per week until June). And likely to be quite backdated in the remaining 12 months of his contract (quite the paycut he's taken, however largely offset by whatever payout agreement he and Arsenal reached).

Ramsey and Ozil were excellent signings. PEA not the worst either. The rest of them are crap tho.
its funny, i never thought calum chambers was crap. i reckon if villa is willing to give him games he can still become quite a good centre back

Poor decision maker, pretty slow too, poor positioning sense.

Maybe not crap just very vanilla and not good enough for what Arsenal want to become. I'm sure he'd be useful for a lower to mid table side.

The January transfer window is and has always been very problematic. The players that switch either full time or on loan, are usually fringe players, players that are excess to clubs or, as is the case with those going to Newcastle, bought buy clubs who are willing to pay way over the odds and offer way to much in wages because they have more money than sense.

Some get really wound up about the winter transfer window but it's just the media hacks and the gutter press along with the wannabe, click bait pricks who blow it up out of all proportion.

As and Arsenal supporter, I am happy that we didn't bring in players just for the sake of bringing in players and I'm even happier that we got rid of another player that was taking the piss and also, it's great to see Chambers being allowed to leave now instead of having to wait 'till years end and hopefully, playing football instead of warming the bench. Callum has been a top club man and all the best to him. With Ainsley Maitland-Niles, if players don't want to be part of the squad and don't want to be at the club, then it's pointless keeping them at the club. Some people think that you can just tell these types to shut up and stay but why? They ain't going to put in even in emergencies.

It's the big summer transfer window where the business is done.

PS. Tottenham got a couple of so-so players, not any better than the ones they have or let go just to appease Conte's ego and keep him from just going through the motions as a coach; in my view. The best bit of business they did was getting 40 mill for Alli - 40 mill for a piss taker!

Was the purpose of this post to talk yourself into being happy with where Arsenal is at this season or was most of it just a long lead-in for an odd dig at Spurs? Either way, I enjoyed it.

After being an Arsenal player for 18 years, I'm not sure AMNs commitment to the club should be questioned. At 24 years old he probably just wanted to play first team football every week.
The problem with AMN is that he always wanted a role in midfield. He wasn't good enough for the most part and basically could have been first choice RB. Understand that's not what he wanted but he could have been playing a lot of football.

Ironically his first game at Roma was at RB lol.
