Considering he can sack anyone at the club... he can call the shots if he wants. I dare say he's been involved in the way they operate as they're the only club giving out ridiculous sized contracts, except for United giving Casemiro 5 years and an EtH extension.

Swift business by Chelsea. With only 7 years remaining on Jackson’s prior deal, the risk of him running his contract down was far too great to not act now and extend it whilst they still had the chance. Phew.
