Its been hard for us fo compete on a budget.

In all seriousness you hear a lot of talk about big money flops, but looking at that list theres a lot of huge expenses, but still value for money signings. And not too many outright flops.

For us Robinho was probably the biggest flop, Grealish maybe not value for money but played a huge role in a trebke season. Aguero and KDB bargains.

I bet ifnyou asked the average football supporter in England they'd be surprised to see us on that list only a few times.

For us Robinho was probably the biggest flop, Grealish maybe not value for money but played a huge role in a trebke season. Aguero and KDB bargains.

I bet ifnyou asked the average football supporter in England they'd be surprised to see us on that list only a few times.

Stan Collymore was the one that surprised me. I had forgotten how expensive he was at the time. He and Fowler had a great partnership for about 5 seconds (on and off the field ) before Owen came in.

I remember him being a flop but I am only old enough to remember him playing at Derby I guess.

Someone was saying in another thread about Celtic / Rangers being a lot worse than 20 years ago and it is like no kidding. Celtic signed Chris Sutton for 6 million. The modern equivalent would be like Solanke who would set you back 60 million. It's no longer possible to compete with the EPL, even the Italian league has been mugged.

Cult hero. One of the top strikers around in the early to mid-90s. Played at Juve with peak Del Piero, Baggio etc, started in the 1996 Champions League final winning side then moved to Middlesbrough. Scored 30 goals in a season then they got relegated.

By far his greatest claim to fame is that he got me and every other school kid in the UK and around the world doing the shirt over the head celebration

It's a shame about Grealish. He was a star at Villa then really only had one good season with City. Pep insisted on playing him wide left then more often on the bench. He was a regular for England but that disappeared.
