Are they set to play against the roos?

Didak back?

Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse has nominated midfielder/forward Alan Didak and the youngest of the Cloke brothers, Travis Cloke, as legitimate chances for senior selection against the Kangaroos at the MCG on Friday night.

Didak has been sidelined by a strained iliotibial band which extends from the thigh down over the knee and attaches to the tibia, but Malthouse said it would be a "matter of degrees" whether he's selected in the seniors or for Williamstown at the weekend.

"It's jumped up at us, because I suspected it would be four weeks, but I was told two or three weeks ago that he could be ready as early as last week," Malthouse said after training at the Lexus Centre on Wednesday.

"His injury has settled down very quickly, but more importantly, it's how his demeanour has been and how his training has gone.

"There's a lot to like about the way he's trained the last two weeks."

Malthouse said Travis Cloke, the club's second round father-son selection at last year's NAB AFL Draft, was "very close" to making his senior debut after a best-afield performance for Williamstown in the VFL last weekend.

Malthouse said the 18 year-old who stands 195 cm tall was mature and versatile enough to take a key forward or key defensive role.

"He's been very impressive. He's a good young lad, takes a good mark, kicks the ball a long way, he's pretty hard at it," Malthouse said.

"He's got form and he's had form all pre-season. He's not one bit intimidated, in fact he's pretty aggressive, so that's not going to be his worry.

"It's going to be - is there a position, or do we wait an extra week or two."

Malthouse said it was unlikely that all three Cloke brothers would be selected to play against the Kangaroos, but there was every chance that two would play.

Cameron Cloke has played the last two matches in the ruck for Collingwood, while the eldest brother Jason played well with Travis for Williamstown at the weekend.

Personally, id like to see dids come back in, but along with David King. Kingy has played pretty well for Willi last couple of weeks, question is, who to drop.

My tip: Out: Maxwell, Obree
IN: Didak, King

Silly idea dropping Maxwell, played very well last week and needs to stay in the 1's for confidence. Your an idiot if you think he should be dropped.
out: Obree, Williams
in: Didak, Cloke

Travis has been our best Willi player for weeks. Actually, Willi's best player period!

My gut tells me Dids shouldn't be rushed, but then I think about him replacing Willo or O'Bree and I tell my gut to STFU!

King has been OUTSTANDING...in junk time. The rest of the time he's pretty much useless.

If maxwell plays, who does he line up on??? I just cant see anyone in the roos line up for him to go against.

The best sign will be "no change".

Didak 10 weeks without a match hit out - could do well to take a half at Willi seconds this week. Travis - makes an impact at Willi level (thank goodness for that), but not sure if we yet need to disturb his studies at school and at VFL. His impact worries a bit compared to Hall and Billy, who though ill/injured last year, haven't yet in comparison to Travis taken a game and imposed their will/skill upon it.

That's the one I'd like to see. :D

I can see Didak playing next week, Anzac Day - rather than Friday Night. A run with Williamstwon will do him good, get back match practice and will be ready to take on the "Minus Cheating-Barnes" Essendon.

I'd put my money on this:
IN: King
OUT: O'Bree

The only possible inclusions are: T. Cloke, J.Cloke, Lonie, Egan, King, Didak
Ommisions: O'Bree, Williams, Walker, C.Cloke

Walker or C.Cloke are the only players who can ruck and Walker might be needed down back or up forward to stretch the kangas. Same as C.Cloke who should ruck most of the game and go forward alot. So they shouldn't be dropped.
Egan needs a bit more time and Didak needs match fitness.
Lonie didn't impress enough.
But remember it is raining so we can't be too top heavy.

williams wont get dropped... i didnt see the whole game last week but from what i saw i dont think he did too bad... he has to have an absolute shocker for malthouse to drop him.. and even then..

dont think they'll get t.cloke to debut in wet weather. could be wrong, but i cant see it... didak will probably play for williamstown, which would be the smart thing to do. perhaps egan? wet weather may suit him abit better than it would cloke, or even king?

MM likes Williams as an impact player at the end of qtrs by the sounds of what he has been saying this week.

I'd like to see Travis get a shot....and to those people who say Maxwell should get dropped - get a clue.

i imagine maxwell playing against someone like corey jones. i havent seent he kangas play this year so i'm not sure if he would be getting a game or not, but i think the two would match up pretty evenly.

Serious question - are school holidays a factor in Trav's possible selection this week? There has been a lot of speculation that Trav wont play seniors this year due to Year 12 studies.

Maybe, just maybe, we are looking at playing him occassionally (if form permits) when it disrupts his schooling the least.

He is a Cloke.

He will play AFL when it does not intervene with his second installment of "Run Spot Run". He won't play next week, as he is all set to find out who the Dish ran away with. He saw Jason's form slump after he found out.

A man's entitled to an edumacation. Wouldnt want him to end up a bonehead like his old man would we?

Not physically possible. No, really, I have done the research.

I am no Cloke basher FWIW. I rate Cam, and from the limited viewings of Travis, he looks to have more aspects to his game than both. Jason is gone.

Any of you unwashed folk going tomorrow night, or will it be feotal positions in commision flats all round..?

What are you on about. His old man does very well for himself, has many business ventures (including his sons) and is overall a very smart man. If only a few others posting on this board had the same understanding or knowledge of what David has, then we wouldn't get these stupid calls for Maxwell and O'Bree to get dropped.

The only change I can see this week is if we need another tall in the back half. Therefore maybe Trav, but i don't think so.

No Change for me.
