Funnily enough I did not see Boaks name in the top ten Brownlow list from last year. I doubt he was in Ports top 6 B&F. Boak is a good player but no where close to Gibbs. If we could get him cheap he would be a good addition.

Boak would be a good addition, but considering that we just got McLean for our inside mid, one or the other would be spending a lot of time in the Ants team.

I dont see Gibbs wanting to go back to Adelaide any time soon as, IIRC didnt his GF just relocate to Melbourne as well?

And now that Buddy and Roughy have signed I fully expect to see Gibbs signing a new contract with us.

And we all now AFL footballers usually stick with the one girlfriend for their entire careers!

Our boys seem to... and they usually seem to hook up with pretty athletic women as well :)

We shouldn't trade gibb but if we did I would want butcher or trengove as well as boak

I think russell for boak. Russell has been great this year and last but is replaceable by o'keeffe, davies or lucas who all have better skills

absolutely ludicrous.

Would be great to get him across. This being said I wouldn't give up Gibbs or Russell for him. Whoever grabs him will be paying over the odds I reckon simply due to the fact he will be hot property!!!

Gray is a good footballer but couldn't hold a candle to Boak.....

Id think Robbie Gray will be the one we seriously look at getting over. We are keen to snaffle a medium sized marking foward.

as a carlton fan n boak a blues fan. i would love to have eiter of them. wood b happy. gray wouldnt cost us as much boak wood. grays always in n out of the side. but boak wood complete our midfield n have no problems pumping the ball inside 50 with our mids and depth. wood allow judd to play more foward

I've been chatting with Western Bulldogs supporters about Ryan Griffen's value as there is rumour that Port Adelaide are interested in his services. Roughly the Shaun Burgoyne deal sounds reasonable in picks 9+16. In a compromised draft that will mean a good player and a first round pick.

At the same age, Travis Boak is a statistically better and more important team balance footballer than Ryan Griffen with perhaps the same SCI. Boak vs Griffen. I'm not in the business of overrating Port Adelaide's talent but it'll be a hefty price to sign his services away from Port Adelaide.

I'm not sure that we need a Bryce Gibbs type of player as we already have Hamish Hartlett who I believe will be a better player than Gibbs. That said if Carlton is intent on signing Boak then I wouldn't be adverse to a swap for Bryce Gibbs.

Everyone knows that tall forward is more of a pressing need for Carlton.

Carlton have plenty of decent to good inside midfielders, including the best inside mid in the competition, but the only other midfielder on your list with skills that are anywhere near the level of Gibbs is Kade Simpson.
Yarran says hello.

Yarran said that he played midfield in the WAFL before he injured his hamstring.

No club would draft a small forward with pick six...They usually get drafted with second round picks.

Dale Thomas is now playing in the "midfield".

And Gibbs is no lightweight at playing inside and working his way out of traffic after he moved into the middle last week.

Gibbs played a huge part in our third quarter come back.

"PORT Adelaide midfielder and former Victorian Travis Boak has emerged as one of the most keenly sought out-of-contract players in the competition, with several Victorian clubs and the Gold Coast having shown strong interest in the 21-year-old.

Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond, Melbourne and St Kilda are understood to be among the clubs to have registered an interest in Boak, who late last week put contract talks with Port on hold until mid-season. Geelong would be an interested party only in the event that Gary Ablett went to the Gold Coast and freed up salary cap room."

Standard formula:
Random "talented player coming home"..........interest shown by [insert the big 4 clubs names here] + two random others.

When was the last time we weren't linked to an out of contract player?
Why wouldn't the Hawks, Roos or Dogs be interested?
