Travis Cloke at Full Forward

Hi Guy's,

Should we try and play Travis at Full Forward. How would he go?

Hows about we get a goalkicking coach first - then we'll look at putting someone else one out in the forward line apart from JA.

Yes he should play at FF currently hes near useless imo, yet hes supposed to be our most important player.

What use would he be up at FF when he can't kick the footy between the big sticks? Why try fix something that ain't broke? JA is doing a splendid job at FF and has his kicking boots on so theres no need to move Trav just because he is struggling at FF. I'm more concerned at the fact that we might need to move JA a bit further up the ground just so we're getting appropriate entry inside 50, but to who? This is where Anthony Rocca comes in to the equation as our FF.... or Sean Rusling.

do you guys think the reason Cloke is finding it hard is because of teams now using zones? think about it, he usually creates a target by running into space on a wing. Now that may not be an option anymore due to the fact that theres no space to run into so we see trav going for the contested mark more often then not. I think this is he and the whole team have struggled cracking TBH.

Very good point - that was the only way taz got his hands on the ball, up around the wing/ half back.

Why dont we just get a Goal kicking coach - even I can see thats what these guys need. If you cant kick goals, you cant win games - simple.

I believe Cloke will perform better than he his at the moment if he plays at the full forward position.

Cloke's kicking for goal this year has been up to standard when taking a shot from 40 meters or less and on a slight angle. Playing at full forward, I expect Cloke to take his shots from those aforementioned positions.

Hmmm not a bad idea. We can then put Nathan Brown forward as he cant do any worse than he currently is or drop him for Ben Reid. With Rocca taking the number 1 opposition defender it could work. The icing on the cake would be Rusling in the forward line too.

I don't like the Nathan Brown forward idea... just doesn't seem like future thinking. Our backline is going to be a major problem over the following years if we don't develop any tall backmen.

If Cloke works at CHB one problem will be solved. Brown can move to FB once Presti retires as he is our best defender by a mile.

We have 4 young key position players to juggle around - Cloke, N. Brown, Reid and Dawes. We just have to come up with the right mix.

In the coming years I can see N. Brown at FB, Ben Reid CHB/CHF, Cloke CHF/CHB and Dawes at FF. Throw Rusling and Anthony into the forward line and it will be potent. Anthony can also be switched to defence if needed.

Travis is better with Rocca in the side, hell, the entire ****ing team is better with Rocca in the side. Don't underestimate the lack of Rocca in the forwardlines affect on Cloke.

Doesn't matter if Anthony Rocca, Peter Hudson or Gordon Coventry is in the side alongside Travis. The game plan, hugging the boundary line & slow movement is killing young Travis.

The same problems will arise regardless of whether Anthony Rocca is in the side or not.

Why did he look a world beater in 07 then?

The gameplan hasnt changed and he looked a dominant forward in 07, in fact won a copeland at the age of 20 with a game plan that doesnt suit him according to you

Averaging 14.88 touches, 7.44 marks, 1.56 goals and 1.56 behinds a game as a high leading CHF is world beating though

4 goals in the prelim against the eventual premiers is testament to that

Jarryd Roughead kicked 70 plus goals in a Premiership side as a 20 year old. That is closer to world beating than Cloke.

He also had an entirely different midfield feeding him the ball.

If cloke was a stay at home FF with crawford/hodge/mitchell/sewell/young/batemen/dew kicking the ball down his throat whilst getting gimmie goals from Buddy too i would also expect 70 goals

You cannot take away from clokes 07 he was very very good especially as the main man at CHF as a 20yo
