Apologies if there is another thread on this.

Triple M are starting their own interactive sports show next Monday, the 7th. Will run almost directly with 5AA starting at 4 going through to 6. It's hosted by Mark Ricciuto & Chris Dittmar and will have all the MMM regulars from across the border chiming in.

I'll be tuning in, ratings will be interesting.

Yeah, i'll give it as go as well.

However, if they have a song every 2 minutes and only get 25 minutes of sport talk every hour will be very annoying. The one benefit of AA is the have a high volume of interviews on the show.

If it is a sports show good, if its a music show bad!
Hopefully they do podcasts so I can just subscribe to those and listen in my own time without all the ads/music.
 
triple m tried this in 1999 - it failed miserably

mind you, all other markets it seems to work pretty well
 
Any competition to Cornes is gold.

But Roo has one of the worst voices in the world (despite the fact the man is amazing).

That was my initial thought.

But the MMM site states he has 'joined the MMM team' so perhaps it's on a permanent basis. Could be seen as a conflict of interest otherwise.

Kym Dillon sounds like is on 5AA this season, maybe Dittmar's replacement, haven't heard Dittmar on AA for a while now, which isn't a bad thing.
 
Didnt Dittmar quit 5AA a while ago around the time the new breakfast team was announced?

Someone with a decent knowledge of sports other than AFL would be good. Rowey is an improvement on KG, but that is not saying much. Cornesy is clueless, despite the fact that he thinks otherwise.

I think Ditts has shown versatility, but some of his AFL comments used to annoy me. Have no opinion on Roo.

Bone and Wildy were the best IMO during the summer.
 
Interesting line up of eastern staters they can call on during the AFL season to make ratings healthier..............

Whenever there is a scandal or drama, seems Triple m would be the place to go for your fix during "rush hour"
 
Most people don't like to hear appraisals that are built with reality as a core componant in there construction! :)

What was it like? good, bad or plan disgraceful.

I caught the 2nd half, quite enjoyed it actually. They had VB on for a good 15-20 minutes and asked decent/relevant questions. For a FM show, there was far less ads than expected; playing a few songs instead which was alright.
 
I thought the opposite. I got in the car just after 5, newsbreak, fair enough they all do that. Came back and they introduced VB, started off then ...... Lenny Kravitz, wasnt even 300m from my building at this point. Changed the channel. Went back, ads, changed the channel. Went back, song. Changed the channel. Went back, ads. Changed the channel, hooray! Roo & Ditts. pulled into driveway :thumbsd:

well be canned before next season.

Even so, its still 100x better than Rowe and Cornes. I listened this arvo and was shocked to hear genuine, intelligent, considered football discussion from hosts who don't want to make the show all about themselves. :rolleyes: All you get on 5aa is either Cornes acting like he's God, telling everyone that they're wrong and that they have no idea, whilst he himself just blurts opinions that he can never back up, mainly because he has absolutely no flaming idea what he's talking about.

Sure Andrew Jarman (who they had on) has a few wacky opinions, but at least he's willing to back them up and explain how he came to such an opinion. Then when Roo disagreed with Jars, it wasn't just case of one party telling the other they were wrong and that was that, they had a proper discussion. :thumbsu:

Sure there were plenty of ads, the news and the odd song, (only difference with 5aa is no song, but thats usually covered by more ads) but at least when there was some discussion, it was intelligent. On average, I can stand maybe 2-3 minutes of 5aa before I switch off(or bash my head against the steering wheel), I had no such problems listening to Roo and Ditts, a refreshing change.
 
Will tune in when I get my icy cold can of coke from Roo handed out to me from the back of a Black Thunder.
