Probably the same guy. He's ginourmous and a nice bloke, I've had some dealings with him.
Sedge is awesome! A man who has dedicated significant time and money to a sport he loves, one of the few liked by everyone.

Haha yes I was there on the night and recall Dave's speech word for word from what is typed here. It was a pretty good night for $105 per head.
I'm (was) a good friend of George's.

Yeah he was a nutter, but he was our nutter!

The opposite of Sedge in many ways, but equally committed to the game.

Sedge. Holy shit. I played soccer in the 90s at sturt marion and he was the reseres keeper. If it is the same guy, he was a giant. He actually wore his gridiron cleats in goal. Lovely bloke, worked at the repat for a bit and i made the mistake of giving him some cheek one night at the soccer club and he picked me upside down and kept drinking his beer at the bar.

neddy36 ... same guy?

Same guy Reidy! :)

I played gridiron with Sedge for years and is good value, I always catch him at United games. He knows a lot of people! George was real intimidating to play against, a scary dude at his peak and so was his partner in crime - Fabio. George absolutely loved the Oilers and his passing not only had a huge effect on them but everyone who played against him, a legend of SA gridiron.

****ing lol.

How the hell did we just bring four people together over the fact I found his speech in a docx saved to my working folders on the network drive.

Really quite long odds.

"that's Adelaide for you"

Prospect is a nuclear free zone! Luckily it doesn't have any hospitals.

Many years ago, I was involved in a consulting panel to a group from a large local council and some very vocal councillors were pushing that they become a 'nuke free zone', like Prospect is.

They had to have it pointed out to them that they most likely had the most amount of businesses, organisations, institutions and bases that generated nuclear waste than any other local council in SA. Not to mention that it contained major rail and roadways where this stuff is transported along.

The confused looks were abundant.

So are they not allowed to have smoke detectors in Prospect?

I'm assuming they aren't allowed to do many medical procedures that involve nuclear medicine either.

"This man has had a myocardial infarction, we need to inject an isotope so we can scan his heart and determine the next steps."

"I'm sorry, we don't allow that type of thing here. Fukushima you see."

Found out about a week ago that I can't go to the first game due to my wife winning an award which is to be presented to her in Sydney on the 23rd, so we are going to stay the Saturday and Sunday nights as well.

Just realised that is Golden Slipper weekend so it would be great to go to Randwick, or simply end up in a pub somewhere so I can watch the races and the footy (she can go shopping).

Can't really complain the weekend won't cost us much even with the extra 2 nights accommodation.

If only it was a week later all would have been great from a footy perspective.

Golden Slipper is at Rosehill.

Long walk from Randwick.

Chase up Quadzilla for the NSW supporters group function. Will be at a pub so you can do both!!

Good Charlotte are the kings of punk

Timing is everything.

Had Husker Du released Candy Apple Grey in a post-Nirvana ‘Nevermind’ world instead of in 1986, when MTV had its boner for Poison, Prince and everything in between, they’d be living in mansions today (except Grant Hart who is dead).
Instead we have a plethora of poseurs and wannabe’s who cashed in and laughed all the way to the bank.
This band was the first band to emerge from America’s 80’s hardcore punk scene to release an album on a major, to very limited success. The world simply wasn’t ready for that sort of stuff yet, clearly. Because I defy anyone to find a single Green Day, Offspring, or Good Charlotte song that is more hook laden than this. To this day I am still dumbfounded that this song never hit the top of the charts.
