Dunger wouldn't even blip on their radar. He wouldn't be worth their time of day. Why is he worth yours? Why is it such an issue when someone else says 'he ain't the worst fella in the world' based on experience of dealing with people that really should be in jail.

Stock standard stuff. People want to talk 24 hours after these sorts of tragedies and get out what happened. I'm sure it happened before 9/11, but I have noticed it always happens since then.

Legalise weed, and use the resultant billions in tax revenue to fund the complete retirement of all fossil fuel power plants and move to 100% renewable energy through grants for battery storage units for every home.

Ban all cotton and rice farms from drawing water from the river system while giving the companies grants to move into other more sustainable forms of agriculture - such as growing weed (which requires **** all water by comparison). There's no reason why the second most arid nation on earth should be growing things that require shitloads of water.

Create a committee of Aboriginal Elders to oversee the environmental portfolio and listen to their advice about how to fix things - if anyone knows the land, they do having lived here for thousands of years.

Heavily invest in science and technology, specifically space and artificial intelligence, which are the new frontiers.

Reduce foreign aid to the point where refugees can be treated humanely and processed more swiftly. No point being charitable elsewhere if you can't be charitable at home.

Encourage investment in jobs by investing in Australian companies that are world class and adhere to quality standards so that Australian goods are seen as some of the best and most advanced in the world. Promote businesses that seek to increase the GDP.

Listen to anyone who had a great idea - who cares if it wasn't mine? We're all in this together. Foster a spirit of co-operation rather than competition.

Basically...just use common sense and govern for the people instead of the minority.

I'm not watching the video and news reports have varied, was the rifle fully or semi auto? If full he must have had someone modify it. Like if one guy can do that I hate to think what could actually be going on over there under the surface.

Semi-auto. Difficult to see how a full auto weapon would be more efficient for a spree killer than semi-auto. Even in combat situations full auto is pretty much only used for grounded-in covering fire.

Semi-automatics are legal in NZ and only a licence is required. Magazines are restricted in capacity but it's not hard to source bigger.

The question which people seem hard pressed to answer is, how do you get the guns back?

Reports I heard suggest weapon was modified but it wasn't clarified.
I got the impression these mosques were maybe a couple of minutes apart at least, which bothers me, if only one shooter.
WTF was going on during that time?
Pretty confusing.
Some witnesses suggesting a couple of minutes before police arrived, while others saying 20 minutes. Latter would be a worry if true.
