Someone i worked with once described Tool as death metal and wouldnt accept any reasoned rebuttal
Like one of those people who thinks anything kind of heavy music is "death metal" and they've never listened to metal or did they think that was the right label?

Anyway the only way to express that you like Tool is to say "Tool ****in' whips". I don't need to hear about how a prog rock album is some great philosophical brain genius symphony of the mind sheeit.

I think the new album is ok.

Winger were a solid progressive outfit under the guise of hair metal, but no one talks about them anymore.

I’ve been getting into kundalini meditation. The first time I did it I could feel energy rising up through my body, but when it reach my head it was so strong that it felt like my head was going to explode.

It gives you altered states of perception and you realise the connected consciousness manifests in all things...and that the anger and hate around the world are really just the cries of infant souls that haven’t matured and are kept in a permanent state of spiritual incarceration by a system that is designed to sever us from the mother that is spirit.

I remember giving lateralus by Tool a go a few times but couldn't get into it. Can't help but feel their drummer over drums. I know he was meant to be doing some spiral polyrythmic pattern or some such but at some point you gotta realise, you're the rhythm section.

Lars Ulrich likes this

Danny Carey is amazing but at a certain point they decided it was more important to be technical than write hooky songs. It worked on Lateralus but the later stuff feels like homework. It's impressive but not memorable.

How fcked up is looking at yourself in the mirror when you are peaking on acid.
